Celebrating Our Amazing Volunteers – Volunteers’ Week 💚

This Volunteers’ Week, we want to take a moment to celebrate and thank the incredible people who make our charity what it is.

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. From cleaning and caretaking, to gardening, cooking, customer service, supporting our food pantry, and so much more—your time, effort, and compassion make a real difference every single day.

We don’t highlight individuals, because it’s the collective commitment, care, and teamwork of all our volunteers that keeps us going. Every contribution matters, and every role is valued equally.

Without you, we simply wouldn’t be able to operate or support our community in the way we do.

This week is all about celebrating you—and saying a huge, heartfelt thank you for everything you give.

📢 Important Update – Prize Family Bingo Sessions (Evening Session Only)

We’d like to let everyone know that our Prize Family Bingo Sessions have now come to an end due to low attendance.

We really appreciate everyone who supported and attended these sessions, and we may look at bringing them back in the future if there is enough interest and demand.

✅ Good news! Our regular Bingo session is not affected and will continue as usual:

Yesterday, a member of our volunteer team was subjected to verbal abuse due to us not having recycling bags in stock.

We want to be absolutely clear:
this kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Our volunteers give their time freely to support the community. They are here to help, not to be subjected to abuse. While we understand it can be frustrating when things are not as expected, there is no excuse for unacceptable behaviour.

Moving forward, anyone who behaves in this way will be asked to leave the premises and may not be allowed to return.

We would also like to take this opportunity to clarify a few important points regarding recycling bags, as there seems to be some confusion:

The Feel Good Factory does stock recycling bags, but we can only hold a limited quantity compared to larger sites such as leisure centres and libraries.

When we run out, we must send staff or volunteers to collect more from the distribution centre — this is done at our own cost.

We do not receive any payment to act as a distribution point.

We do not manufacture the bags, so we are unable to address any concerns about their quality.

The local authority sets limits per household, to help prevent supply shortages across all distribution points.

Our building typically sees around 200 visitors per week, but last week alone we welcomed over 700 visitors as our venue was used as a polling station. This meant supplies were used much faster than usual, and unfortunately, we ran out more quickly than expected.

We’re thinking about bringing back our Lunch Club on Thursdays from 12pm in the café — a relaxed and welcoming space to enjoy a meal, have a chat, and socialise with others ☕💬

Prefer something quieter? We’d also offer a takeaway option for anyone who’s not comfortable staying in.

We’d love to know if this is something you would be interested in.

FAQ's

What is Lunch Club? it is a set meal option that is pre-ordered so we can offer as much discount as we can whilst offering a fantastic meal option with a hot beverage included within the price.

What type of meals do you serve? Some past meals include, curries, pies, roast dinners, burgers plus much more.

What is the price? we are looking at a cost of around £5 per person, that is for a delicious meal and hot beverage.
