🌊 Welcome to the Crew Tina 🌊

We're delighted to welcome Tina to Montrose RNLI following her recent move from South Queensferry.

For the last three years, Tina has been a member of the crew at Queensferry RNLI, serving as Tier 2 crew on their Atlantic 85 lifeboat. With Queensferry being one of the busiest lifeboat stations in Scotland, Tina has attended many shouts and gained a wealth of experience responding to those in need on the Firth of Forth.

Since moving to Montrose, Tina has joined the crew on both our Shannon class all-weather lifeboat and D-class inshore lifeboat. She's looking forward to starting her training on the Shannon and learning more about all-weather lifeboat operations.

Tina has also recently progressed onto a navigation plan as she continues to develop in her role as lifeboat crew.

We're very pleased to have Tina as part of the crew and look forward to seeing her progress in the months ahead πŸ›Ÿ.

Please join us in giving Tina a warm welcome to Montrose Lifeboat station πŸ’™

On Saturday, our very own Ryan Duncan attended an RNLI volunteer recognition event at Hopetoun House in South Queensferry πŸ‘πŸΌ.

These special events celebrate RNLI volunteers who have achieved long service milestones and other awards, recognising the dedication and commitment they give to saving lives at sea.

Many of you will remember that Ryan celebrated an incredible 20 years of service with RNLI Montrose last year. As our Deputy Coxswain and ILB Helm, Ryan continues to give so much of his time, skill and experience to the station and our community.

We’re glad to hear Ryan thoroughly enjoyed the event and the opportunity to celebrate alongside fellow RNLI volunteers from across the organisation. It is very well deserved and a fitting recognition for everything he contributes to RNLI Montrose.

Thank you, Ryan, for your continued dedication and service πŸ›ŸπŸ’™.

We're hoping Scotland can stay afloat in Group C, weather any storms, and bring three points safely ashore tonight.

The crew will be cheering them on from Montrose, but as always RNLI Montrose remains on call 24/7.

With any luck, the only thing launching this evening will be Scotland's World Cup campaign.

A productive morning for our volunteer crew today who were off the coast of Johnshaven, carrying out man overboard exercises and helping our trainee crew develop their boat handling skills at the helm of our Shannon class all-weather lifeboat πŸ›Ÿ.

Regular training is vital for building confidence, sharpening skills and ensuring we're always ready to respond when needed πŸ“Ÿ.

🌊 Water Safety in Our Community 🌊

πŸ›Ÿ Our fantastic Water Safety Officer, Jen, has been out and about in the community recently, helping to equip young people with the knowledge they need to stay safe around water.

🏫 Over the past few weeks, Jen has visited Borrowfield and Ferryden Primary Schools, delivering engaging classroom sessions and assembly talks.
She’s been chatting with children about how to enjoy the water safely, including practical demonstrations of lifesaving equipment such as lifebuoys and throw lines, showing them exactly how they can be used to help someone in trouble.

⛱️ With summer just around the corner and more families heading to the coast, rivers, and lochs, this is the perfect time to remind everyone, especially children, about the importance of staying safe near water.
The RNLI’s key messages are simple, memorable, and potentially life-saving:

πŸ‘‰ Stop and Think
πŸ‘‰ Stay Together
πŸ‘‰ Float
πŸ‘‰ Call 999

A huge thank you to Borrowfield and Ferryden Primary Schools for the warm welcome, for the brilliant engagement, and to Jen for her continued dedication to keeping our community safe.
