💙 Carers Week 💙
This week marks Carers Week (8–14 June), an annual campaign dedicated to raising awareness of the UK's 6 million unpaid carers, recognising the enormous contribution they make every day, and highlighting the need for greater support.
This year's theme is Building Carer-Friendly Communities - encouraging workplaces, healthcare services, schools, local authorities and communities to better recognise, value and support carers.
At Montrose Connections, we see first-hand the dedication, love and resilience of family carers supporting someone living with dementia. Many of our carers are balancing multiple responsibilities; working, raising children, caring for grandchildren, managing households and supporting a loved one through the daily challenges that dementia brings.
The pressure to be everything to everyone can be overwhelming. Too often, carers experience exhaustion, isolation, declining health and burnout while putting the needs of others before their own.
This Carers Week, we want to shine a light on the incredible role carers play and recognise the importance of ensuring they receive the support, understanding and respite they deserve.
We hope that our Meeting Centre provides not only meaningful opportunities for people living with dementia, but also some much-needed time for carers to rest, recharge and focus on their own wellbeing.
To all our carers: thank you. Your compassion, patience and commitment make a difference every single day, and you are truly valued by all of us at Montrose Connections. 💙
