Minehead parkrun #446 – An M for the Challenges! ☀️
Minehead parkrun, Event #446 – Saturday 10 October 2026
The sun was shining over Minehead this morning as 131 people crossed the finish line at event number 446. With 21 volunteers helping to make the event happen, there was plenty to celebrate, from strong performances at the front of the field to personal achievements and another alphabet letter ticked off.
An M for the challenges! 🏃♀️
Andy and I made the trip to Minehead to add another parkrun to our respective challenges. It was an M for Andy's Alphabet Challenge and an M for my Namely challenge too! With a name as long as mine, every letter is a welcome step closer to completing the challenge! 😄
The course was listed as a three-lap route on the app, although it felt more like three trips out past the hands and two visits up towards the pirate ship! 🏴☠️
One thing you certainly can't complain about at Minehead is the elevation. The course is so flat that even the flat-earthers would be proud! 😂
There were a few tighter sections along the route, but with a relatively small field, things soon settled down after the start and there was plenty of room to enjoy the run. The wind made itself known in one direction, but the sunshine certainly helped make it a lovely morning to be out running.
Leading the way 🏅
First across the finish line was Curtis Beynon-Pearce, in an impressive time of 18:51. Close behind was Christian Brookes, finishing in 19:16, with Harvey Kemp taking third place in 21:05.
Lloyd Rowe followed in fourth in 21:14, while Nyssa Clarke finished fifth overall in 22:19. Nigel Merrick completed the top six in 22:20.
Congratulations to all our leading finishers and to everyone who took part, whether chasing a time, enjoying a social run or simply getting another parkrun in the bag.
A morning of achievements 🎉
My personal highlight was recording my second-fastest 5K time of the year! With the wind to contend with in one direction, I was really chuffed with my run. It's always a lovely feeling when your efforts pay off, and it made ticking off another letter for my Namely challenge even sweeter.
We also bumped into Trevor and his daughter, who both enjoyed strong runs of their own. One of the lovely things about parkrun tourism is discovering a new course while still bumping into familiar faces.

As always, the event wouldn't have been possible without the 21 volunteers who gave their time and energy to make Saturday morning happen. From supporting runners around the course to helping everyone safely over the finish line and through the funnel, every role matters.
If you've never volunteered before, why not give it a go? There are plenty of ways to get involved, and it's a great way to experience parkrun from a different perspective.
Another lovely morning at Minehead, another M ticked off for Andy's Alphabet Challenge and my Namely challenge, a little sunshine, a little wind and lots of reasons to smile.
