Keep your fingers crossed for Poundland

❤️ Our traders. Our community. Our Margate. ❤️

Here at Margate Shopping Centre, we're all about looking forward, staying positive and celebrating what makes our little corner of Margate so special.

We're incredibly proud of our community of traders. From familiar High Street names to one of Thanet's most diverse collections of independent businesses, we embrace them all. Big or small, national chain or independent, every trader has a place here. No divisions, no favourites. We're one community.

That's why it's particularly sad to hear the latest news surrounding Poundland Official and the uncertainty facing its staff.

We're not here to get into the corporate arguments or the politics of the High Street. Instead, this morning, our thoughts are firmly with the team at Poundland Margate, particularly with Christmas just around the corner. ❤️

We're proud to have Poundland as part of our Centre.

For many local people, it offers access to everyday essentials and familiar brands at affordable prices. But its value to Margate goes beyond what's on the shelves.

It's part of the social glue that holds a shopping community together.

Someone popping in for discounted dishwasher tablets might stop for a coffee, browse a neighbouring shop or discover one of our fantastic independent traders for the very first time.

That's how a healthy High Street works. Every business contributes, and every business matters.

So, to the team at Poundland Margate, we're thinking of you and standing firmly behind you during this uncertain time.

You're part of our community, and we're proud to have you here. ❤️

We all hope that a deal can be found to save Poundland, a Margate High Street stalwart, that the community relies upon for a huge cross section of products.

MARGATE HIGH STREET — SHALL WE GET TOGETHER?

There’s been quite a bit of conversation recently about Margate High Street — events, Christmas, footfall, how the street looks and what we could all do to make it better.

So perhaps it’s time we all got together.

We’d like to hear from businesses, traders and organisations along the whole of Margate High Street who would be interested in meeting up and, more importantly, getting involved.

This isn’t about the top, middle or bottom of the High Street, and it isn’t about any one organisation doing everything. It’s about seeing whether there are enough of us who want to work together and share ideas, time and responsibility.

There are lots of things we could talk about — Christmas, events, planting, appearance, promotion, footfall and how we make more of the High Street throughout the year.

For now, we simply want to know: would you get involved?

Comment below, message us privately, or tag another High Street business that you think should be part of the conversation.

If there’s enough interest, we’ll arrange an informal High Street traders’ and Residents’ meeting and see where it takes us.
