If you have questions please email Peter Henery the Junior Development & Safeguarding Officer [email protected] Back in 1954 a group of a dozen or so friends and match anglers regularly met at the Prince Albert Pub in Newton Street Macclesfield, Cheshire. In those days their fishing was confined to South Park Pool, the Macclesfield Canal , Rudyard Lake and Bosley Reservoir. They fished either

on day tickets or as guests of one of the big fishing clubs of the day. Eventually one of their number, came up with the idea that they should form a team and fishing club under the banner of the Prince Albert, although at that stage they could only fish matches and day ticket waters. This led to the idea that they should club together and rent a water of their own. Their first opportunity was to acquire the Brick Pond on Barracks Lane, they each put in to the fund what they could afford and the deal went through and on 19th August 1954 the Prince Albert Angling Society was born. Over the subsequent years many other waters were added to the portfolio, Crabtree Moss was next followed by Birtles Old Hall, Irongates, the River Dane at Hulme Walfield Old Hall and Manor Farm at Middlewich and the Serpentine at Alderley Park. Prince Albert then became affiliated to County Palatine, Cheshire Anglers and Northwich and District Anglers. The rest has, as they say, passed into the history of angling. From those humble beginnings the Prince Albert Angling Society has grown to be the largest and most successful fishing club in Europe today boasting a portfolio of over 230 waters, a membership of over 8,500 and a waiting list approaching 2500. Our Chairmans View

I have been a member of Prince Albert since April 1964, initially enjoying the ever improving fishing and visiting the new waters as they came on stream. During 1985, I was invited to join the Committee and for the last last 17 years I am proud to say I have been in the Chair. A post of which I am particularly proud to hold. From those humble beginnings back in 1954 Prince Albert has grown beyond all recognition. I believe the first water we rented was Woods Pool, now a location covered in houses. Today we have some 220 waters, within a geographic area stretching from the Lake District in the North to the river Wye in the South, the Fylde Coast in the West and the Pennine Chain in the East These waters give members the opportunity to coarse fish still waters and rivers, trout fish on reservoirs, lakes and streams and salmon fish on large fast flowing rivers, and of course you have the opportunity to visit and fish in some glorious areas of countryside. All of this is available within within a well managed and financially sound club with bailiffs looking after our waters and a sensible rule book by which we safeguard the interests of both our club and our 8,400 members. Every member is issued with a comprehensive guide which gives essential information about our waters, we publish an excellent news letter Hook Line & Sinker three times each year. So, from 12 good men in 1954 with no club waters to the largest and arguably the best club in Europe with 8,400 members and a portfolio of over 220 waters in just 50 years. The result of hard work and dedication by lay members with the interests of this great club at heart. After last year's event, the kids were really up against it but they didn't disapoint with some great fish caught by all. First up a Young first timer kai who banked a lovely 28lb mirror followed closely with a 17lb mirror but unfortunately that was all the fish they had but well done lads cracking fish, which we thought had started proceedings off with that but with a strong north westerly blowing across the lake it made for tuff fishing. Noel last yrs winner had a few but also dropped a few due to hook pulls but as always he fished a brilliant match nxt up the regulars morgan and jodie who always manage to winkle a few out with a couple of lovely fish gracing there nets then there was another new face to the event Young Jesse who fished up in the shallows bagging himself some lovely fish to take 2nd place but the star of the show was alfie who showed a fine display of angling being consistently accurate and relentless in his approach to take a well deserved 1st place and trophy for the year well done mate 👏 🏆🏆
A special thanks to everyone that helped with the event especially steve ector who weighed everyone in at the drop of a phone call thanks mate couldn't of done it without you 👍 and a guessed appearance from our lovely lets fish coach (you know who you are) who brought a ray of sunshine to proceedings always a pleasure to have you and you are always welcome.
Hope i haven't missed anyone and we all love this event some great fishing great company and some smiley faces and that's what it's all about 😁
So on to the nxt one and hopefully it's as good if not better than the last.
