Sad news. One of our supporters over the years.

In 2020 we had a dream to bring the Hanging Gate back to life. Sadly, over the past 6 years we have seen a decline in visitors, changes in drinking habits, and don't even get us going on the economy! Overheads have soared, and despite doing everything ourselves to keep costs down, we just can't go on.

We have put blood, sweat and tears into this pub and are sad to say we will be closing on Sunday 20th September to focus on our plans for guest accommodation.

Thank you to those who have supported us over the years, we hope you will pop in to see us before we close.

Plenty of young trees around macc would appreciate some water at the moment. If there is one near you, maybe considering filling up a watering can and giving it a soak?

Young Trees really need our help at the moment.

If one is growing near you, please give it a good water.

Congratulations to Susanna, who is our tree grower of the month of June ish.

We are a bit behind and I cant remember everything she did now. I do know it was good though and was a unanimous decision made by our secret tree grower of the month decision making committee.

As a reward for all her hard work, susanna gets to drink from the prestigious tgotm mug, wear the beautifully crafted badge and put up the certificate in pride of place somewhere to impress visitors.

Our weekly update has gradually become a quarterly one. Seems a bit weird posting photos that happened a while ago. So, will try and keep older ones to a min. Anyway, info in the photos attached.

Does anyone know how to water things ? We are looking for people who know one end of a hose pipe from the other to help us out with a spot of watering now and again.

Just when it is hot and dry (which might not happen at all this summer). Maybe take an hour of so. We have 2 sites in particular (Knowsley road allotments near south park and the Rossendale Trust in Sutton) that might need a extra person or 2 on the hot weather watering rota.
