Intersex Awareness Day is observed annually on 26th October.

The day focuses on ending shame, secrecy, stigma, and non-consensual medical or cosmetic surgeries on intersex infants and children, while promoting bodily autonomy and human rights.

25th-31st October is Ace Week (formally Asexual) an international annual campaign to raise awareness, build community, and create change around the world.

The campaign is to celebrate the asexual, aromantic, demisexual, and gray-asexual community, raise visibility, and educate the public.

International Pronouns Day takes place today, Wednesday 21 October 2026, encouraging everyone to make sharing and respecting personal pronouns commonplace.

Using someone’s correct pronouns is a simple act of respect that helps people feel seen and safe. The day promotes inclusion for trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people everywhere.

Mistakes happen, but what matters is how we respond. If you get someone's pronouns wrong, simply correct yourself, apologise briefly and carry on with kindness and respect.

Silver Strollers walks on behalf of Body Positive

🍂 Sunday 11th October – Shakerley Mere
11:00am – 1:00pm

Shakerley Mere is an excellent choice for one of our more accessible Silver Strollers outings. The circular route around the mere is approximately one mile, with a wide path and generally firm, even surfaces. There are numerous benches around the route if anyone would like a breather, together with accessible fishing platforms. We'll take everything at our usual relaxed and sociable pace, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the water, woodland and autumn wildlife.

📍Meet: Main Shakerley Mere Car Park, off Northwich Road, near Allostock, Cheshire WA16 9JX.

🚗 Parking: Parking at the main Shakerley Mere car park is free. There are public toilets at the main car park, including an accessible toilet with a RADAR lock. Please be aware that there is some loose stone within the car park itself, so the surface can be a little bumpy.

☕ There are no refreshments at Shakerley Mere itself, so after our stroll we'll head to the nearby Three Greyhounds Inn, Holmes Chapel Road, Allostock, WA16 9JY, for a warming cuppa and chat.
