At the moment we're not taking any container donations which is causing some consternation, so I thought I'd just qu**ky try to explain...
We accept donations of containers for 2 reasons, firstly to provide containers to customers who have forgotten to bring their own and secondly to save those containers from landfill (let's not get into the recycling situation for plastics today). When we take your donations, however clean they are (and they usually are) we still have to wash, dry and sort them. This is done by our wonderful team of volunteers and takes a lot of their time. Then we need to store the clean, dry and sorted containers ready for use. Unfortunately, at times we find ourselves without the volunteer time to dedicate to looking after the containers and/or the space to store them. At these times we do have to turn donations away, however, it is usually only a few days before we can start to take them again. We hope that at these times you will understand and bear with us. At Scoop & Scales we are passionate about protecting our planet. We encourage you to join us today and every day in our endeavours to live more sustainably, reuse the resources we already have, put less waste into the system and consume more mindfully. We’re here as always to help support our community on this journey.
