The new season is in touching distance so that can only mean one thing.........Weekly reports are back!!!
Our teams have been upping the training sessions, trying on the new kits and today some have been out and about testing out some new systems and player positions so lets see how they got on at the Lions tournament in Lytham and BJFF tournament.
💜Under 8 Magpies - Saint Anne’s Mags — BJFF Tournament Cup Winners
What an outstanding day for the team. We travelled to the BJFF Tournament, faced some of the very best sides in the competition, and came away as Cup Winners. Every single player stepped up, gave everything, and did their job — this was a full team performance from start to finish.
Kian was unshakeable in goal, shot stopping all day with one being a big save in the semi final penalty shootout and even found the back of the net himself a goal kick, truly exceptional display.
Louis and Emmett were absolute rocks at the back, defending fearlessly and giving us a platform to build from all day.
Joey, Cruz and Joe were magnificent in midfield. They moved as one, battled for every single duel, and controlled the tempo of every game with real quality.
Up front, Sofía and Josh were outstanding. They led the line brilliantly, worked tirelessly, and set the standard for the whole team from the very first kick.
This is our second trophy of pre-season, and it is fully deserved. The hard work, attitude and team spirit have been there from day one. The league campaign starts next week. We take this momentum, this confidence, and we go and do what we do best.
Proud of every single one of you.
🐍Under 9 Pythons - Pythons took part in the Lytham Lions Club tournament today to kick-start the new season. 4 matches played against tough opposition, but just what we needed to shake off the cobwebs of the summer break and get back to match sharpness.
Special shout-out to our two new players, George and Ralph, getting their first taste of match football today, and both getting on the score sheet in the process. Coaches' 'Python of the Tournament' was shared between them in recognition of this achievement. Dream start for both as they settle into the team.
Parents' 'Python of the Tournament' went to Orla who has really gone from strength to strength over the summer, and was a nightmare for the opposition defences all tournament.
Looking forward to starting the season proper next weekend. ! 💚💜
🐍Under 9 Cobras - This morning the cobras made the short trip to Lytham for the Lions tournament playing against local sides Lytham, YMCA and fellow St Anne’s teams Pythons and Vipers.
We played 4 games, grabbing 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat. It was a great overall display from the team and a nice warm up ahead of the season starting.
The team were a little unlucky not to leave with the trophy, but we couldn’t be prouder of the efforts. Goals were shared around the team which is always great to see.
Special shout out to new signing Lochlan who was making his debut for the team, he was absolutely brilliant throughout showing a class touch and great finishing.
Well done to all the team. Up the cobras! 🐍
💛Under 12 Yellows - Following a good summer break, the Yellows travelled the short trip to visit our local rivals in the annual pre season tournament The Lions Cup, seeking to win it for the 4th consecutive season.
Yellows had made some cracking transfers during the window in securing Hayden, Freddie and Ella, all of which slotted in and looked more than comfortable today on their debuts.
The team started slow however quickly found their rhythm creating good passages of play and a plethora of chances. The chances turned into a host of goals from Henry, Hayden, Finn, Lorenzo, Kobie, Freddie, Jacob, Tommy and Ciaran. It was a good opportunity for the team to play unfamiliar roles today which they all adapted well to and embraced the opportunity. Ultimately it was a great day for team bonding and having fun whilst retaining the cup in sportsman fashion.
Ciaran won players player for his solid play at the back and his cameo role up top bagging a hatrick.
Hayden played a number of different positions and excelled in every role he was asked to. Notably his goal from near the halfway line was a highlight and helped him earn managers and parents player.
One midweek friendly left before we welcome Foxhall to BRN.
