Newly extended and relaunched ...The Pier Inn ...it's looking amazing!

Congratulations on a successful opening and exciting investment in St Annes on Sea.

This film from 1903 is an amazing window into the earliest days of the 'new town' of St Annes on the Sea.

It shows the days when trams ran from Lytham through St Annes to Blackpool.

Now familiar town centre roads are unmade, with towering sand dunes and acres of farmland.

There is so much fascinating detail, including the bandstand and frontage of the pier already standing proud, trams jostling with horse-drawn carriages, and babies being pushed around in charming perambulators.

Big step forward for this multi-million pound luxury development in St Annes on Sea.

The Sanctuary - the five star spa, restaurant and bar complex being created across two historic buildings - has applied for a music and alcohol licence from Fylde Council.

The application will be heard on 22nd Oct.

Included in the detail is that one of the two bars is on the top floor, and will have a retractable roof!

This has been a huge project, to protect and restore such key buildings in our town centre, including JR Taylors which had been decaying for ten years.

But it looks like we will soon be seeing it come back to life.

Our 120 year old Carnegie Library in St Annes on Sea has now got a newly renovated gazebo.

The amazing volunteers at St Annes in Bloom and the Friends of St Annes Library work hard to keep the peaceful library garden looking beautiful. That recently included a team effort to upgrade this outside seating area.

Major BBC drama filming in St Annes on sea!

Have you noticed all the lorries and activities at the front?

The BBC are using our lovely coast as a backdrop for 'Dragon Slayer' starring Matthew Rhys.

It's a factual drama about Sir Harry Evans, former editor of The Sunday Times. He is famous for investigative journalism and broke some of the biggest stories in UK history.

It's a popular filming location and it's fun to see familiar sights on screen!

Two of the most important landmarks on the Lancashire coast - beautiful Fairhaven Lake and Gardens, and the Byzantine architecture of the 'White Church'.

An upgrade and improved accessibility are planned for Pirates Cove playpark at Fairhaven Lake.

Our parks are an important part of our reputation as a family friendly place to visit and live. So it's great to hear that £11,000 has been set aside for improvements at this popular one.

Fylde Council is now considering a new accessible entrance, smarter fencing, renewed safety surfacing and improvements around the café seating area.

AND ANOTHER **NEW** business opening soon in St Annes on Sea.

This one is highly specialist and largely aimed at younger shoppers, as Crescentcollectables is all about Trading Card Games (TCGs).

A bit of digging revealed this is a fast growing sector, already worth £800m a year in the UK.

Top names in collectable cards (which you then use for games) include Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon Trading Card Game.

It seems a great fit with Red Wizard : Gaming, Gifts and Creative Hub which is already a successful business and active community champion.

It's also another specialist shop for our growing range of varied independents.
