Families enjoy and value shared reading.

But they urgently need support.

👉 That's the message from our brand new BookTrust Family Survey, which explores reading for families with children in the early years.

📚 The findings show that 80% of children like or love books (that's risen from 65% in 2021) and 90% of parents and carers enjoy reading with their child.

But daily shared reading has dropped markedly since 2021 - and two thirds of parents and carers report at least one challenge to sharing stories together.

🗣️ As Frank Cottrell-Boyce said during his Waterstones Lecture last week: "The hunger is there - families just need the support to keep that love of reading alive."

That’s a wrap!
After 19 weeks our Home-Start Craigavon ‘Tiny Steps’ parent 👩🏻 & infant 👶🏻 programme has come to an end.
Together we’ve experienced 5 weeks of infant massage, 8 weeks Mellow Parenting parenting programme & felt the lovely warm welcome from our local community partners visiting Chrysalis Women's Centre, Emmanuel Church Lurgan buggy walk, R8 Church parent & toddler, “getactiveabc South Lakes Leisure Centre tour & listened to the brilliant Southern Health and Social Care Trust health visitor talks on ‘wee brains 🧠 matter’ & ‘sleep’. 😴
It’s been a privilege for Reda and I to see you grow and blossom 🌸 from the brand new mums we met into the confident, competent, positive Mothers you are today.
Keep strong, keep in touch & keep loving ♥️ those beautiful babies. 👶🏻
