A third of young people say they will not wear a poppy because they believe it glorifies war.

That is not a failure of young peopleβ€”it is a failure to educate them.

The poppy does not celebrate conflict. It reveals its terrible cost: lives cut short, families left grieving and generations scarred by war.

If young people misunderstand its meaning, we must ask what we have failed to teach them.

The poppy is not about glorifying war. It is a solemn promise to remember the courage, service and sacrifice of those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy today.

The poppy does not glorify warβ€”it remembers the cost.
