£250 raised for YMCA- Shine 🧡

A massive thank you to our amazing customers for your continued support! Thanks to your generosity, our Community Bookshelf has raised £250 for YMCA Shine! 🎉

YMCA Shine supports young people aged 8–16 across Lowestoft, helping them build confidence, develop new skills and make positive connections through a range of fun and engaging activities.

This donation will go towards YMCA Shine’s Community Hub, which provides vital support to local individuals and families through a free Community Fridge & Pantry and seasonal hot meals — helping tackle food insecurity and reduce food waste.

Thank you to everyone who donated a pre-loved book, bought a book or made a donation. Every contribution, big or small, has helped make this possible!

Youth Lowestoft x Youth Cresset summer sleepover ⭐️ We had the best evening with some lovely visitors from our fellow youth project in Peterborough 😁 We took them along the seafront for an ice cream and then wandered back and up to Ness Point. After our walk we had a yummy buffet style dinner while the young people took to the mic signing karaoke 🎤 🎶 Then it was games and everyone chatting, before quietening down with a movie and sleep 💤 This morning was a quiet one with toast for brekkie and home times ⭐️ Thank you all for coming, we look forward to joining Youth Cresset in Peterborough later in the year 🤩

The young people had a fab time at our last Activities Unlimited summer session today! We started the session by learning about the weather and creating their own weather plate. They then did a variety of different weather crafts before watering and lunch. Young people thought it would be fun to run outside and summon the rain through a rain dance. After lunch the rain started so we headed for the polytunnel and had fun taking part in a variety of quizzes together.

Young people had a lovely AU session today learning all about Butterflies 🦋 They made their own lifecycles, completed a scavenger hunt and made Butterly Gliders! 🤩
We then harvested Squash, tomatoes, green beans and Peppers 🫑

Today for our Activities Unlimited session the young people learnt about pollination and created a pollination booklet using information they had learnt, they then created their own flower stained glass windows 🌷🌹🌸 After lunch they helped to water the allotments and had some fun in the shade playing games and with fidgets ☺️

A busy AU session today harvesting our allotments🌾
Young people learnt about Climate Change and the changes we can make to improve our world 🌍 We pulled out spring onions, beetroot, tomatoes, corn and cabbage🌽🍅
Young people helped to water and finished by playing with some outdoor games!🎾
