Cairngorm to Coast with Outfit Moray

Cairngorm to Coast with Outfit Moray Taking you from the heights of the Highlands to the coast of Moray, it is the area's most stunning duathlon.

Cairngorm to Coast is an annual 100km hike and bike challenge event held to raise funds for outdoor learning and adventure youth charity, Outfit Moray, who provide life changing outdoor learning and adventure opportunities for young people in Moray. Cairngorm to Coast is a 100km hike and bike challenge that takes place against the backdrop of the magnificent Cairngorm National Park and along the b

eautiful scenery of the Dava Way. Cairngorm to Coast is Outfit Moray's main fundraising event of the year and helps support our work providing life changing outdoor learning and adventure activities for young people in Moray. The annual challenge takes place on a Saturday before the last Monday in August, and begins at Cairngorm Ski Centre car park when entrants hike or bike down towards the Sugar Bowl, through Glenmore Forest to Glenmore Lodge, on towards Nethy Forest and Lyngarry towards Nethy Bridge, where they join the Speyside Way to Grantown-on-Spey. There, the 'hike only' participants will hang up their muddy boots, whilst the 100km participants will get on their bikes and head up the Dava Way to Forres and then follow the NCR 1 and quiet back roads to finish in Lossiemouth, a mere 70km later. Do not be fooled, this is a gruelling challenge and requires plenty of training and preparation. The local climate is extremely changeable and you could be starting the hike in the snow! Outfit Moray and Bike Revolution provide all the logistical information and support, as well as first aid & mechanical support on the day. Participants will receive an Outfit Moray goody bag and the option to purchase an event t-shirt, as well as a finisher's medal on completion. A tree will be added to Outfit Moray Trees for Life Grove for every participant on the day. To keep up with the information on each year's event, you can visit our page or join in the chatter in the Facebook group. Have a read through previous years' stories and see if you think you are up to the challenge! To sign up or find out more, visit www.outfitmoray.com/c2c

Feeding hungry participants at the Royal British Legion Scotland Strathspey in Grantown On Spey transition point is always a big operation and we couldn't do it without their amazing team's hard work preparing and serving the spaghetti bolognese!

We're also incredibly grateful to Tesco Extra for donating the garlic bread and Asda for the tea and coffee, as well as Alison at The Re:Store Moray in Lossiemouth for helping us with the industrial sized tins of chopped tomatoes - you wouldn't believe how much is needed to feed 100 people!

We're always incredibly grateful to Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental Elgin for their support of Cairngorm to Coast.

Each year, they donate two LWB vans that we use to transport the bikes for our hike & bike participants to the transition point at Grantown on Spey, enabling us to free up vehicles for event logistics on the day.

Without their generosity, things would be a lot trickier, and we'd also raise less money to support a Cairngorm to Coast Trainee Scholarship.

Thank you Arnold Clark and a thank you also to our fab volunteer drivers, Trish and Trevor for their support on the day πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

We're still waiting for a couple fundraisers to let us know how much they've raised, and then we'll announce this year's total (spoilers, we're very excited)!

John and I would like to express our sincere gratitude for inviting us along to participate in your Cairngorm to Coast event on the 23rd May.

The event was exceptionally well organised and expertly delivered, reflecting the considerable effort, planning and commitment of everyone involved. We were particularly impressed by the enthusiasm, resilience and determination by all those who took part. Their achievements throughout the day were truly inspiring and a testament to both their own efforts and the support provided by your team.

Thank you once again for including us in such an inspiring and memorable day.
We wish you continued success in your invaluable work and the positive difference you to make in young peoples lives.

Congratulations and well done ###

We love that Cairngorm to Coast takes place so close to Volunteers Week because it gives us the perfect opportunity to celebrate our amazing C2C volunteers!

Between them, they donate nearly 300 hours of their time to make sure the event runs smoothly and is a success but, more importantly, to ensure all our participants are safe and accounted for as they make their way along the route.

Cairngorm to Coast literally couldn't happen without them, so please join us in sending a huge, and very deserved THANK YOU to every single one of them 😍
