Ladybird Development Group

Ladybird Development Group The Ladybird Development Group cares for fourteen pre-school aged children with Additional Support Needs from Lossiemouth and the surrounding area.

Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation for pre school aged children with Additional Support Needs
SCIO Charity Number: SC012779
Tel: 01343814618
www.ladybird.org.uk The centre is based in St Gerardine School. The children are all referred to the centre by a Health Professional who has concerns with the child's development. They receive high level support on a 1:1 adult to child ratio, by fu

lly qualified and skilled staff. The Manager and eight practitioners care for the children with moderate to complex needs in a safe and stimulating environment, encouraging them through planned therapeutic activities and meeting their learning needs in order to help them reach their full potential. The centre requires over £120,000 every year to operate and has a shortfall of around £50,000 to find to top up the statutory funding. This is raised by the efforts of a voluntary committee, local people and businesses, and applications to grant funders. Help from interested parties is always welcome, either to assist financially or in kind, or to offer a few hours when required to help with fund-raising events. Please consider donating or offering help towards ensuring these very brave little ones get the very best start in life.

We would like to thank the family of the late Jane (June) Gray who came in yesterday to make a donation of £345 from her funeral. Please know that we really are so grateful that people think of us at the Ladybird Development Group during this time of sadness.

We are in the process of refreshing our garden area so this support will help to fund this. Thank you

We have arranged a sponsored walk for all of the children on Wednesday 3rd June during their usual session times. This is just before one of our parents Louie takes on the challenge of doing the Kiltwalk for Ladybird on Sunday 7th June in Aberdeen. We obviously won't be going as far as him but we will be walking round Lossiemouth to raise funds for both Ladybird and MFR Cash for Kids.

One of our children recently got funding from them to purchase an Eye Gaze so we would like to give them something back! Sponsor forms will be handed out to the children this week, any donation would be very much appreciated :-)

Friday 15th May is Prader-Willi Syndrome Awareness day in the UK, however we took part in this today instead. Staff and children wore orange to represent PWS.

Prader-Willi syndrome is a rare and complex genetic condition, which affects physical health, cognition, and behaviour. One of the most challenging aspects of PWS is hyperphagia, an insatiable hunger that can lead to serious health complications. The condition requires lifelong support and interventions.

Little Kerr who attends our morning session has Prader-Willi syndrome. Whatever obstacles he is faced with he has been able to overcome. The positive attitude and support he receives from his family & friends really is just amazing!

We had a collection today to help raise some vital funds to provide support and research into PWS. Thank you so much to everyone who took part and donated today 😊

We had a lovely day at Gordonstoun Highland Games today! It was good networking and informing people about our service and what we do (at times emotional), helped by the sun being out too! Great to have one of our children drop by for a visit at our stall.

Thank you to the organisers of the event & to the Gordonstoun community for inviting us along & choosing us as one of their charities 😊
