Phab

Phab provides safe and fun places for people to feel independent, meet friends and gain confidence. Out of this discussion, Phab was born.

The beginning of Phab can be traced back to 1957 and a holiday course at the National Association of Youth Clubs at Avon Tyrrell in Hampshire. A young disabled man named Terry Rolfe made a speech: he asked for “opportunity, not pity” for disabled people. He asked simply that those with impairments be given a chance to share in a programme of exciting activities on equal terms with non-disabled peo

ple. Mary Robinson, the director of the course, became the founder. Today Phab supports a network of around 150 clubs in all ranges for disabled and non disabled people, offering activities which all members can share and enjoy together. Phab also organises inclusive living experiences at fully accessible outdoor centres at various locations. During 2017, Phab celebrated its Diamond Jubilee. The charity continues to inspire and support people of all ages to make more of life together.

🎿✨ What a day on the slopes! ✨🎿

On the 9th May, 40 incredible Phab members hit the snow at The Snow Centre - and what a day it was! From first runs to personal breakthroughs, the day was packed with courage, confidence and BIG smiles 🙌

One unforgettable highlight? A Mini Phab member taking to a sit-ski for the very first time - an emotional moment for everyone.

Huge thanks to our amazing volunteers and Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK) instructors for making the day so special... and we were also thrilled to meet Paralympic champion Sean Rose!

Members from four Phab clubs and three community groups took part in Ski Day (South), including Uckfield Phab, Epsom and Ewell Mini Phab, Epsom and Ewell Phab, Phab Friends Worthing, Active8 Berkshire Banshees and Me2 Club

✨ We’re at Kidz to Adultz South today with Kidz to Adultz Exhibitions at Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre until 4pm.

We’re excited to be part of this fantastic free exhibition dedicated to children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, along with their families, carers, and the professionals who support them.

There’s so much to explore - from an inspiring seminar programme to expert advice and a great opportunity to connect with supportive, like-minded communities.

💬 Janine and Jackie are on hand at stand V21 to chat about the incredible work Phab does - bringing disabled and non-disabled people of all ages together in a spirit of togetherness and fun, creating spaces and places where everyone belongs.

Our Phab Farm Day was a huge success! 💜

Last Sunday, over 110 people joined us at CAFTcharity in Cheshire for our latest Phab’s Adventure Farm Day.

Families spent time with the alpacas, met the miniature donkeys, and made the most of the outdoor play areas. Activities included the zipwire, swings, sandpit and pirate ship, alongside time to explore the farm and enjoy the space together.

Jacqui Sutton, Phab Charity Support Officer, said: “It was such an amazing day, seeing so many people come together, enjoying the activities and making memories in such a beautiful setting was incredibly special. Days like this are what Phab is all about.”
