French Classes for Adults
Every Friday at The Mill

Beginners Class: 11:00 am - 11:55 am
Conversation Class: 12:00 pm - 12:55 pm

Beginners Class - For adults beginners. A chance to learn French in total immersion, as the class will be 100% in French. Less grammar and theory, you’ll be encouraged to speak from day 1 in a safe and nurturing environment. You’ll learn sentences and vocabulary ready to use straight away!

Conversation Class - For adults who can hold a basic conversation in French and wish to practice and expand their skills. Every week we will explore a different subject. We will use articles, videos, to improve your fluency and comprehension.

Each class is for 5 students maximum at a time, to allow everyone plenty of time to practice!

Craft Market at The Mill

Join us at The Mill for our Craft Market! An opportunity to pick up something handmade and truly special. Find one-of-a-kind gifts made with love.

Here are some photos from a seller's previous event! Expect to see similar items this time around, along with plenty of new additions!

They'll also be a variety of handmade gifts and accessories made by our wonderful Mill knitters and Sociable Sewing groups.

Local makers will also be selling jewellery, hand-knitted baby items, cushions, craft materials and other curios!

MYM: Enjoy learning to draw
Wednesdays, 7pm - 9pm.

Join Jason Hawkridge on a six week drawing adventure for all abilities, where you can relax, learn, focus and engage with your creative side. All materials supplied.

Hello everyone! Meet Isobel! She’s one of the wonderful volunteers here that helps keep The Mill running! After coming here with her children and meeting lots of friendly faces, she decided to set up the Lego Club as a volunteer which she’s been running for over 3 years!

If you’re a parent or carer, here’s your sign to come to The Mill. We have a free playroom for babies and toddlers, and an Honesty Library full of books for all ages. Perhaps, you might also like to set up something like Isobel that would benefit the community?

Pop in anytime we’re open! Talk to our reception volunteers or staff to find out more.

Sessions run on Thursdays, from 24 Sept to 22 October.

Get creative and messy in this popular after-school group for children age 6+. Join Duncan, Jane and the Junior Art Club team to create with print, clay, collage and other media. All materials provided.

Chinese Culture Club (Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration)
Sun 27 September, 11am - 12pm.

Both families and individuals are very welcome, parents/carers would need to stay with their children (recommended age: 6+) during the session. The session will mostly be conducted in English and open to everyone interested in Chinese Culture! 

This Sunday, we will celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. Sheryl will teach a Chinese folk song, some simple Chinese phrases for the festival, and facilitate conversations (or drawing activities for younger participants) around our cultural roots.

Such a fantastic new exhibition has just gone up at The Mill! 

‘My Walthamstow’ celebrates the diversity of our area and the people who make up our community.

For this exhibition, we invited artists to share their personal perspectives and show us Walthamstow through their eyes. Their work explores a range of themes, from familiar places and memories to how Walthamstow has changed over the years, as well as activism, identity and the many things artists love about the area.

Together, these different perspectives create a rich and varied portrait of Walthamstow, reflecting how people experience, connect with and shape this place we all call home.

As always many of the artworks are for sale with proceed going to the artists and to support The Mill. It's a great opportunity to buy a piece about our community and that also helps our community!
