We’ll be honouring the black voices and communities that have helped shape London’s cultural identity, with a nod to the rich Grime history that can be found in Oxford House.

“London. Fashion Week. Sunshine and high spirits. Over two weeks on and I’m still thinking about this weekend.

Together with the tremendously talented Martin King, Genesis Rico Dela Cruz , Xavier LaCroix, Pat and the whole crew. At the centre of it in Bethnal Green.

Learning more about the history of the place gave those days another layer of meaning. Oxford House has supported the East End since 1884. Today, the team keep making room for creativity, friendship and community.

A proper shout-out to the people behind those doors. Your work deserves to be seen.

This little film is for all of you. For what you create, for who you are, and for everyone who keeps showing up.

Loved making this with you. And even happier to call you, my friends. Let’s move on in time. Much love.

At least 6,266 children were killed in conflict in 2025 — a 34% increase from the year before. Photography can humanise the stories behind these statistics, but how we tell them shapes what the world understands.⁠

Join Save the Children’s Anna Sass Anna Sass _ and Ivy Lahon (Ivy Lahon ), academic Jess Crombie and — by video from Gaza — emerging photojournalist Omar Ashtway (omar_ashtawy) (Ian Parry (The Ian Parry Photojournalism Grant ) Scholarship mentee) for a vital conversation on who gets to tell these stories, what responsibilities come with that power, and how we move beyond documenting crisis to building narratives with children, not just about them.⁠

The ‘East Mend’ banner is at Whitechapel Gallery!

We’re excited to share that the ‘East Mend’ banner is currently on display at Whitechapel Gallery from 1st - 5th October. ‘East Mend’ was created by an intergenerational community group at Oxford House with commissioned artist Aya Haidar, from the Material Histories project, as part of Made in the East End, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Last night, the project ‘A Love Song for Whitechapel’ by artist Aya Haidar was celebrated at Whitechapel Gallery, with ‘East Mend’ proudly on display in the Assembly Room alongside the event.

The banner will remain at the Gallery throughout this weekend, coinciding with ‘The Strength Between Us’, Whitechapel Gallery’s programme marking the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed their time, creativity, stories and skills to ‘East Mend’, we’re proud to see your work represented at Whitechapel Gallery.

To celebrate Black History Month and National Poetry Day, we’re sharing Kezieah’s powerful poem The Eastenders, from our Made in the East End project, Write Where We Stand.

Write Where We Stand is an anthology created with students from two local secondary schools, Oaklands School and Mulberry Academy, alongside poets and .makoha - celebrating young voices that shape our communities.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Slidefest Local and helped create such a warm, welcoming and inspiring atmosphere!

Massive thanks to the incredible participants of Reframing the East End for sharing their photography and perspectives with us and to Rehan Jamil and Mohamed Somji for supporting the photographers through the project.

The Reframing the East End exhibition is still on at Oxford House until the end of the year, so if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, be sure to visit while you can! 👀📷

Flow State - Samhain Special

Join Ruby Holder on a candlelit immersive writing experience in our secret Victorian chapel! 🕯️🕯️

After two sold out Flow State workshops, we are pleased to announce this Samhain special taking place at Oxford House on 6th November 6:30pm-9:00pm.

In this session you’ll be led through a series of exercises with the addition of sound, film, props and other creative tools with an aim to kickstart creativity and generate early-stage material through the practice of ‘free writing’.
In this Samhain special our workshop will have a particular focus on pagan Samhain (or Hallowe’en) practices, the Essex witch trials and applying magic, folk horror and ritual imagery to contemporary storytelling.
