Japan’s new plastic from RIKEN and University of Tokyo dissolves in seawater in hours and breaks down in soil in 10 days, boosting soil health with nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen! It’s as strong as regular plastic but leaves no harmful microplastics. A big step toward ending plastic pollution and supporting sustainable farming!

Next week, your Council Tax letters will be arriving which detail how your Council Tax and other funds have been spent in the borough over the past year and what challenges lie ahead in the coming year.

Due to financial pressures felt across the country, we must make difficult decisions to ensure the best outcomes, whilst remaining financially responsible to our residents.

This means, saving £14.3m in the next financial year.

Whilst we face incredibly challenging financial pressures, we promise to protect some of our most vital services.

If you’re struggling with your Council Tax bill or with the cost-of-living crisis, visit our website in the comment below.

++ Upgrades at William Morris Gallery ++

Starting Monday 10 March, we’re making essential environmental upgrades to our historic Grade II* listed building, thanks to funding from Arts Council England’s MEND fund. These improvements—covering insulation, cooling and ventilation —are part of our 75th Anniversary Programme and will help us to better protect our building and collection for years to come.

To make this happen, our Gallery displays will be closed from 10 March – 4 April 2025. Deeney’s CafĆ© will remain OPEN ā˜• with access will via the rear entrance in Lloyd Park. Wheelchair and buggy access will available via the main entrance (this access may be limited at times).

We can’t wait to welcome visitors back on 5 April 2025 for the Morris Mania exhibition (5 April – 21 September 2025).
