The SE5 Forum is a grassroots, non-political, umbrella organisation that exists to work for the improvement of Camberwell to benefit all members of our diverse community. The Forum was set up to be the eyes, ears and voice of the community, to see and understand what is happening within the area, to listen to concerns and raise them with the relevant organisations. Ready for some Autum garden inspiration? 🍂

For our next Camberwell Talks we will be joined by local designer Charlie Chase .gardens. This year Charlie picked up his first-ever medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and he's bringing the story home to Camberwell.

Join us for an evening diving into Chase Gardens' award-winning debut at Chelsea: from the very first sketch to building it alongside children's mental health charity . Charlie will also share how he got into gardening in the first place, and why SE London is such a rich place to put down roots.

Expect Chelsea secrets, garden inspiration, and an honest look at how nature can support our mental wellbeing 🌸

Many thanks to Dr Iain Bolton for leading the Twilight Bat Walk, and sharing his expertise in such a fun way. Attendees came from all corners of Camberwell, and further afield. Attendees received a bat box to support the local wildlife🦇.

Fantastic news! 💫 We've secured funding from National Lottery Awards for All to continue and expand our community-building programme over the next twelve months.

Building on 20 years of presence in Camberwell, the project targets social isolation, strengthens community cohesion in one of London’s most diverse Neighbourhoods, and offers free support during the cost-of-living crisis.

Primary activities centre on weekly community engagement at Camberwell Green, free seasonal festivals, wellbeing workshops, and local networking events.

This timely and much needed funding will enable us to deliver;
ℹ️ Our weekly Camberwell Green Stall: Maintaining the Saturday presence to distribute health/wellbeing
maps, share local information and hold conversations with residents.
🎪 Festivals & Events: a series of free outdoor and indoor community events and festivals.
📣 Community Engagement & Communications: Reaching out to residents via website updates, social media campaigns, email newsletters and the mobile app Camberwell Life.

We are so grateful to the for their recognition of the importance of the work that we do, mostly delivered by volunteers. And big thanks to Integrate Agency in Lambeth for their advice and support.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Saturday for the Burgess Park Dawn Chorus 🎶🌳

Huge thanks to John and Cadera for leading us with such knowledge and care, every stop along the route taught us something new. We discovered that Canada geese come in different subspecies, distinguished by their size, and that ducks have surprisingly dramatic home lives: females often lay their eggs in another pair’s nest, leaving the unsuspecting hosts to raise a blended family. The hedgerows were in full voice too, buzzing with life and colour. One group even spotted an escaped canary flashing pale yellow between the branches, like a burst of sunshine among the leaves.

Camberwell Talks is back!💥

To start us off in September we will be joined by leading historian of both Black British and gay culture, Stephen Bourne. He'll be sharing stories from growing up in 1960s Camberwell and becoming a , now captured in his memoir 'Thursday’s Child – A Life Between the Lines'.

Since the 1990s, Stephen has become a pioneering figure in British public life. He has published more than 20 books on Black British history and gay culture, including his best-known titles Black Poppies, Fighting Proud and Trailblazers of Black British Theatre. For his contribution to diversity, Stephen was awarded the Freedom of the Borough by Southwark Council.

Come and hear the stories behind the books – and discover the people, places and experiences that shaped a remarkable Camberwell life.
