📈 Care and Accountability in Q***r Data Practice

Join us for a panel discussion and Q&A for community groups, LGBTQ+ and allied organisations, researchers, public-sector teams, funders and data practitioners interested in how data can be approached in more care-full, accountable and community-led ways.

Building from work developed by researchers PJ Annand (they/any) and Stef Garasto (they/them) with QUEERCIRCLE, a London-based LGBTQ+ arts and community organisation, the session will ask what q***r approaches to data can offer to wider community, civic and public-interest data work across London. This event begins from q***r data practice – an approach shaped by questions of power, categorisation, visibility, consent, refusal, reciprocity and collective benefit. The panel discussion will bring together speakers from community, research and organisational perspectives.

Panellists will explore how data can support advocacy, service improvement, resource claims and collective learning, while also raising questions about when data practices become extractive, unsafe, inaccessible or misaligned with community needs.

🌟 Community Offering 🌟

Starting next week, .voice and Anh-Khoa Trần are running a 4 week class for trans/non-binary/gender-non-conforming folks to learn about vocal technique at Q***rcircle.

We’ll ground our voices in our bodies, learn about how voices actually work, and start to trust in our own sound. Learn how the different registers of the voice work, and sing in whatever range brings you joy - anything is possible.

Each class will start with a gentle somatic warmup, technical exercises to focus on a different aspect of voice, and a big group sing at the end. Personal feedback is available for anyone who wants it, but nobody will be put on the spot. Join us for the impeccable technique, stay for the impeccable vibes.

This class is 4 weeks long, your ticket is for all 4 classes.

8 free places on this course have been reserved for trans/nb people of the global majority courtesy of London Trans Choir, first come first served.

📷 DIY Camera Obscura: Moving Image and Meaning Making 📸

📆 SATURDAY 4TH JULY 2026 - 2-5PM

❗️This Workshop is for 16 - 25 year olds,  Participants under 16 are welcome to attend if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian❗️

In this workshop, participants will make, decorate and use their own working Camera Obscuras 📸 The workshop will be guided by the artist Rachael Kelly Ryder RachaelKellyRyder who researches moving image, archives, haptic visuality and representation on camera.

Participants will have time to watch experimental short moving-image clips, engage in independent reflection on what it means to be seen and represented through visual imagery, and respond to the workshop using cardboard camera obscuras, which we will make together. Each participant will be able to take home the camera obscura they make.

This workshop is a space for creative exploration, learning, and connection, where participants can try new techniques, share inspiration and engage with their q***r peers and allies.

Rachael Kelly Ryder (Dublin, 1994) is a visual artist, filmmaker and AHRC-funded practice-based researcher at the Glasgow School of Art (GSA) and National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive (NLSMIA). Her research explores migratory patterns between Ireland and Britain, marginality in British diasporic life, oral and hidden histories, and the socio-economic conditions shaping communities.

This informal gathering explores dimensions of Q***r Creative Health through mapping and ‘desire lines’ - pathways that bypass official, longer or less official routes, forms of everyday disobedience that rely on us following feeling and intuition.

You can pick up a free copy of the pamphlet Fragments of a Q***r Radical Mapping Praxis, authored by researcher River Ujhadbor who will give a short talk and be open to questions. You can also see art works by the artist Jacob V. Joyce (photographs of cruising grounds in Trinidad and the UK). Plus drinks and nibbles!

Our 67-page report, Fragments of a Q***r Radical Mapping Praxis, authored by River Újhadbor gathers q***r counter-mapping projects from around the world alongside composite lyrical poems, reflections on key concepts, and the final framework of “seven fragments to orient us”.

Images from our recent workshop "Cruising Otherwise" with .

Together, participants reflected on cruising through conversation, storytelling and collective listening, centring the experiences of women, trans and disabled folk.

The session included readings by the author, Patrick Califia and others, opening up discussions around intimacy, risk, pleasure and q***r world-building ❤️

🏳️‍⚧️ TransGenerations Group 🏳️‍⚧️

Between the months of October and March, the TransGenerations group met to talk, draw and write together, collectively creating a Time-Capsule that will remain archived at QUEERCIRCLE in the form of a toolbox-shaped piñata 🧰✨

The toolbox was chosen because the stories and objects hidden inside represent the tools needed to build a trans future together.

Sessions were led by Lu Wilson and , with guest facilitators Africa Barrero-Alexander and .
