Last week our food bank centre volunteers and staff said a very sad farewell to Abbas Khan who has been on the door welcoming our visitors at each welcome centre for the last couple of years. Both visitors and staff/volunteers will miss his smile and sweetness.

DID YOU KNOW that we purchase fruit and veg from one of the Lewisham Market greengrocers so that our visitors can have fresh produce? This includes plantain, yam, chilli and garlic as well as other staples like potatoes, carrots, onions, bananas, apples and oranges. It's important that our visitors have some fresh items amongst the tins and packets.

It's our Summer Food Drive at Tesco Elmers End & Lewisham superstores this weekend.

If you're shopping at either store, please say hello to our volunteers and consider donating a couple of items or make a financial contribution.

We are currently feeding around 600 people per week so the support of our community makes a big difference.



"Lots of lovely people donating, some who referenced their past use of food banks and wanting to support."

"A great day! It was very busy and people were very generous. Almost every shopper took a card and some who didn't explained that they give to other food banks and/or causes"

The RSPCA England and Wales Community Paws Event is in full swing! Come along to St John the Baptist (353 Bromley Road) COMMUNITY PAWS will bring a full suite of support services at no cost to our food bank visitors, including:

Medical Care: Pet health checks with qualified vet nurses, microchipping, and flea/wormer treatments

Financial Aid: Vouchers for up to £250 toward veterinary care

Supplies: Free pet food, toys, enrichment items, and general pet provisions

Expertise: Professional advice and guidance on pet welfare

There are over 200 volunteers working at Lewisham Foodbank - some regular, some ad-hoc. Between them, they complete approx 640 hours of work per week. If these hours were paid the London Living Wage this would cost us nearly half a million pounds per year.

We are so grateful to all of them - past, present, and future. You are all heroes.
