This Volunteers' Week, we're celebrating the incredible volunteers who make Girlguiding possible. 💙

From planning adventures and leading meetings to supporting girls as they learn new skills, build confidence, and make lifelong friendships, our volunteers give their time, energy, and enthusiasm to create amazing opportunities for young people.

This week the girls completed the fajita fun skill builder. We adapted it to make delicious pizza and everyone enjoyed grating cheese, cutting tomatoes and spreading tomato purée. Any non vegetarians added ham. Most of the girls ate the pizza once it was cooked but a few wanted to take it home.

1st Llangollen Brownies recently visited the Llangollen Foodshare to learn about their work and handover the food they’d brought from Aldi while completing the shop till you drop skill builder the previous week.

We started by visiting the hub on Market Street and then walked up to the youth club to see their new home. The brownies weighed the bags of food before unpacking them and placing the items on the shelves.

They had lots of questions and Steph at the Foodshare was very welcoming, spending time with them to share what the Foodshare does.

Last week the brownies began their Live Smart skill builder badge by completing the “Drop till you shop” activity. Instead of simply working off pictures, we organised for the girls to actually buy the items from Aldi and see the real prices. They discovered that food there was cheaper than they’d thought. Each group received a budget and carefully selected items based on price. They paid at the tills themselves and packed their bags. This week we plan to take the food purchased to Foodshare.

What a wonderful evening we’ve had! The girls finished their kindness badge and several earned their Make Change Theme award. We also saw some lovely collections for the collectors badge. One girl completed her space badge and another showed us her amazing painting for her painting badge and express myself theme award. Another girl finished her aviation badge.

Two girls earned their Brownies Bronze award and one girl earned her Brownies Silver award.

🌸This Mother’s Day we celebrate the care, guidance and encouragement that help girls grow.

To the mums, grandmothers, godmothers, carers and incredible leaders who support girls to build confidence and discover their potential, thank you.

We are also thinking of those who may find today difficult. However today looks for you, you are part of our guiding community. 💙

1st Llangollen Brownies and Rainbows have spaces available for new Brownies/Rainbows! 🦋✨
We meet every Wednesday evening in term time, and we’re all about friendship, fun, and trying new things. From crafts and games to outdoor adventures and earning badges, there’s always something exciting going on!
Rainbows is for girls age 4-7 and Brownies is for girls aged 7–10. It is a great way to grow in confidence, learn new skills, and make lifelong memories.

This week the girls became reporters in the great chocolate heists. The girls completed tasks to earn a clue, some clues were fact, some opinions and some speculation. The girls were able to report where, when and who stole the chocolate.

This week the brownies completed the Trash for Fashion UMA using recycling and scraps. They made earring, hat and scarfs, skirts, jackets and tops. The finished the meeting with a fashion show.
