Last week was the first big test, running for 20 minutes continuously and they all smashed it. Loads of very proud moments and even some happy tears. 🥹

Week 5 of the has started this morning in the sunshine 🌞

We are now “stepping it up” a little and this weeks sessions are:

Run 1 - 5 min jog / 3 min walk x3
Run 2 - 8 min jog / 5 min walk x2
Run 3 - 20 min continuous jog. Very slow pace.

“Running saved my life” 🏃🏻‍♂️ I genuinely don’t know where I would be now if I didn’t start running.

I have struggled with my mental health since childhood and I have used other negative habits to help me “escape” from the thoughts and feelings that I would experience… but since the 16th July 2023 I have found something that helps me regulate those feelings… running! It meant that I could stop poisoning my body with substances. I also stopped my prescribed medication from the doctor (BPD, bipolar and OCD meds) because they too made me feel worse, sluggish, tired and just masked how I was feeling.

Running for me has been different, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t still struggle with my mental health. I have good days, I have bad days, I experience bouts of low mood and motivation and some days it’s really difficult to get out and run, but on the days I win that mental battle… I ALWAYS feel better afterwards.

As I continue to grow, heal and manage daily life better than before… I have to be grateful to be able do this, because some people can’t 🙏🏻
