There is an increasing number of people calling for an end to the occupation, equal rights for Palestinians, and accountability for violations of international law.

The Lewes Apartheid Free Zone (AFZ) initiative is part of a wider movement expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and supporting action for justice and freedom.

Lewes has a long tradition of standing up against injustice wherever it occurs.

This Saturday, we’ll be at the Bridge stall from 11am–1pm inviting people to sign the Lewes Apartheid Free Zone petition and join a growing movement for human rights, equality, and freedom.

The Apartheid Free Zone campaign is inspired by the principles of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement: refusing complicity in systems of oppression and taking peaceful, collective action for justice.

If you believe our community should stand against apartheid, discrimination, and violations of international law, come and have a conversation, learn more, and add your name.

We stand unwaveringly with Palestine.

On 16 May, we march for Palestinian freedom and for every people resisting occupation, colonialism, apartheid, and oppression across the world.

We stand against the governments, institutions, corporations, and political forces that sustain these systems of violence and exploitation, those that profit from war, enable dispossession, silence dissent, and fuel racism and dehumanisation.

And we stand against the forces within the UK that weaponise division, scapegoat migrants and minorities, spread hatred, criminalise solidarity, and seek to turn ordinary people against one another while injustice continues unchecked.

Our solidarity is international. Our resistance is collective. And our demand is clear: freedom, dignity, justice, and liberation for all.

Join Lewes for Palestine on Saturday 16 May - we’ll be travelling to the march on the 10.25 train from Lewes to London Victoria. Meet at the ramp at the end of the station.

Please consider sticking together in this march as the Far Right march has been allowed to take place on the same day. Strength in numbers y’all.

Calling all Lewes residents/shoppers!

We’ve launched a community campaign to declare our town an Apartheid-Free Zone (AFZ) — and we need you with us.

In line with long established Boycott, Divest & Sanction (BDS) principles, we are gathering signatures from Lewes residents to build a clear, public mandate showing that local people want businesses to reflect values of equality, justice, and human rights

This is not abstract. It’s about what we support, what we tolerate, and what we actively challenge, right here in our own community.

The yellow line in Gaza keeps moving, reflecting ongoing expansion into Palestinian land. In the West Bank, occupier violence remains a daily reality, with attacks on homes, land, and people, and lives still being lost.

When the cameras leave, the situation doesn’t end.

Power doesn’t stay in one place—it travels, adapts, and returns.

From Sudan to Congo, Iran to Venezuela, Lebanon to Palestine, systems of surveillance and control are shared, tested, and refined. And they don’t stop at borders. In the UK, deals like Palantir’s with the NHS show how these same logics enter public institutions.

When data becomes a tool of control, human rights are at risk, privacy erodes, accountability weakens, and care can shift into monitoring.

Solidarity means seeing the connections.
