Thanks to a Nescot College project with funding from Surrey County Council, young people at LYP received a barista workshop earlier this week from Howie's Coffee & Co.

Howie has converted a horse box into a mobile coffee shop, which alongside attending events and festivals is also used to provide workshops to teach valuable life and employability skills.

Our young people had a fantastic time learning how to use a coffee machine and really enjoyed the experience of being a barista. It was a great way for them to learn more about the hospitality industry and try out a new skill.

Between September 2025 - August 2026 we received 115 referrals for counselling and emotional well-being support or mentoring.

To support these 115 young people, our team provided 1,117 one-to-one sessions.

100% of young people who received counselling and emotional well-being support told us they either agreed or strongly agreed that 'the support I received met my needs'.

Young people rated our overall counselling and emotional well-being service as 4.7 out of 5.

When asked 'did you feel listened to by your counsellor?', young people gave an average score of 9.5 out of 10.

It's been a great start to the new school year with our youth cafes BFree and BYouth seeing an average of 37 young people each session.

We are getting a great number of new year 7s who are settling in well at both youth cafes.

It's great to be back with the first BFree of the new school year.

This week BFree youth cafe is open purely for year 7s to help them settle in and get to know the youth workers.

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone else back next week.

Alongside all the young people receiving their GCSE results yesterday, we wanted to celebrate a young person that has been supported through our Aspire project and recently passed their maths functional skills exam!

For any young people who didn't receive the results they were hoping for yesterday, there are multiple routes to achieve your goal.

We offer 1:1 and group sessions for 16 - 24 year olds to gain their maths and English functional skills qualifications in a quiet environment that works at their pace.

We've been in the Brecon Beacons the last few days as part of our Into the Wild project. The young people climbed Pen-Y-Fan and have been enjoying the countryside.

Last week our Making Good project was at Denbies. The young people helped in the community garden and had the opportunity to explore the area. They were rewarded with a trip to Brighton.

We swapped the office for the forest today 🌲. We were grateful to be hosted by Elysian Academy for our annual team day.
