Research by the London Green Belt Council shows that the scale of development planned on Green Belt land in London and the Home Counties would result in losing up to 48,000 acres of countryside 😢

Hertfordshire, Essex, and Surrey account for two-thirds of all current development threats to the London Green Belt and since the London Green Belt Council started tracking threats to the local countryside in 2016, the amount of Green Belt land offered for development has increased by 127%

The report recommends the use of brownfield sites for developments that could still easily meet the region’s housing needs.
