For the past three years, Rosemary has dedicated her Saturday mornings to teaching English at the Ammar Transforma project. But she shares much more than words: she offers care, hope and opportunities for children and young people to discover their potential and build a brighter future.

Our first Afternoon Tea at Bishop’s Stortford Baptist Church brought people together over good food, friendship, and a shared purpose: raising funds for Happy Child International.

✨ The proceeds will support a young person through our Mentoring and Skills Training Project for a full year!

“There is an African proverb that says: It takes a village to raise a child.”

Sergio Ricardo, now 20, knows exactly what that means. His journey with Happy Child began when his aunt encouraged him to join the Mentorship and Skills Training project.

From a shy young man, Sergio grew more confident; he learned English, qualified as an IT technician, and discovered a passion for the field of Information Technology.

Sergio’s story reminds us that a single opportunity can open the door to a different future.

For many years, Elda stayed closely involved in her children’s lives, seeking to protect them from the vulnerabilities of the community where they lived and to create pathways towards a different future.

Riquelme’s story reaches Part Three — showing that transforming your own life can also mean transforming the lives of others.

Passionate about Capoeira since childhood, he discovered through the sport the values of respect, discipline, self-belief and perseverance. Today, with the support of the Mentoring and Skills project, Riquelme has also become a young leader, sharing these lessons with children and young people in the Coqueiral district.

Because when someone believes in their own future, they can inspire many others to believe in theirs too. ✨
