Loft Theatre Company Creating unforgettable experiences on stage in Leamington Spa for over 100 years. ⭐️

Registered Charity 1134863

The Loft Theatre is run almost entirely by volunteers, many of whom have theatrical or academic drama qualifications and experience, who devote their talent, time and energy to the theatre. If you'd like to know more about volunteering in any area we'd love to hear from you. Each year we produce around nine shows in the main 200 seat auditorium and a smaller number in the 50 seat Douglas Ford studio theatre. Our work covers the range of theatrical styles from classical to modern, tragedy to comedy, farce and musical theatre. Whether you like to be shocked, enlightened or simply entertained, you will find something for you here.

This intense, dramatic production vividly depicts the fallout of the terrifying violence of war and in particular the effect it has on the lives of women.

Just a few years after the play was written, the historian Thucydides wrote “the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must” — a maxim that is being frequently quoted on the news today as it was in the ancient world.

'Women of Troy' starts later this month, and if you haven't booked your tickets yet then you can do on our website.

This intensely dramatic play shows us the fallout of the terrifying violence of war and, in particular, the effect it has on the lives of women and children. Although it was written over 2,400 years ago, it still speaks to us today on some of the most fundamental issues of our time.

It's the morning after the fall of Troy. All the Trojan men have been killed, but the women don’t yet know their fates — each woman is waiting to hear which Greek leader will be their new master as they grapple with grief and loss.

This intensely dramatic, powerful tragedy may have been written over 2,400 years ago, but it still speaks to us today on some of the fundamental issues of our time. By the end, the women have been taken to the ships, and their city is in flames...

'Women of Troy' is at the Loft Theatre from October 28. Tickets are available now on our website, where you can also read David Fletcher's director's notes about this production.

Terence Rattigan’s 'Man and Boy' was first performed in London in 1963, and has since been revived in theatres all over the world and more recently in 2026 at The National Theatre.

This is a sharp and gripping tale of paternity and corruption, with nuanced characters and piercing dialogue that transports us to a final dramatic and tragic conclusion.

The reading and auditions are taking place this week, so if you'd like to get involved then please visit our website to learn more about this process and the production.

“Man and Boy emerges as a surprisingly hard-edged play... Watching it in the light of the Epstein scandal, it feels pressingly pertinent in its depiction of a valueless world where everything has a price — even love. It has a savagery and sharpness that makes it utterly compelling.” — WhatsOnStage review, February 2026

"For centuries, Greek drama has fascinated audiences, actors and creative teams. These plays may have been written over two thousand years ago, but they still speak to us today on some of the fundamental issues of our time. They bring a searing focus on the human condition – on the powerful and, in the case of Women of Troy, on the powerless. We have seen this recently in Christopher Nolan’s film The Odyssey – this play is its prequel!"

— David Fletcher, Director of 'Women of Troy'
