Would you sleep out for a night in support of the homeless?

That's the opportunity that Helping Hands Community Project is organising this Friday night, 9th October at All Saints' Church Leamington Spa.

In this week's episode which you can listen to right here, I spoke with organisers from the charity about the event and with Colin and Antonio about their own personal experiences of homelessness.

World Homeless Day takes place this week, on Saturday 10th October ⛺

For too many, sleeping on the streets, in a tent, on a friend's sofa, or in temporary accommodation is the norm. This year marks the 17th annual World Homeless Day, where people all over the world share a light on the issues so many face day in day out.

There are may ways to help. From donating, volunteering, sharing support services, writing to your MP, or simply treat people experiencing homelessness with kindness and dignity.

🧡We are in need of sleeping bags 🧡
As we head into cooler evenings, the need for sleeping bags has increased and we currently have none left.
A sleeping bag can make a huge difference to people who are sleeping rough.
If you have a new or clean, in good condition sleeping bag that you no longer need, please consider donating to us.
📍Any donations can be dropped to our offices Monday to Friday 9am - 3pm.

Our clients have always been, and always will be, at the heart of everything we do.

Whether it’s a hot meal, a cuppa and a chat, someone to listen when things feel difficult, or support and mentoring to help take the next step, we want Helping Hands to be a safe, welcoming place where people feel comfortable, supported and, most importantly, able to ask for help.

Adrian is a wonderful example of what that support can mean. He first came to Helping Hands a few years ago when he was living in isolation and unsure where to turn. Over time, he found friendship, support and a sense of belonging, gradually rebuilding his confidence and taking huge steps forward.

Today, Adrian is not only a valued member of our community, but a Client Trustee, using his own experiences to help shape the future of Helping Hands. We couldn’t be prouder of how far he has come — and we’re incredibly proud to have him as part of our team.

Sophie sharing her Charity shop weaknesses!

Today our shop’s first birthday 🎂, two of the team visited our Helping Hands Charity shop to celebrate the successes of the year with our lovely shop manager, Lorna, and talk about how the beauty of charity shops.

I’m not sure how much work was actually done, but there was certainly a lot of shopping going on! Thanks girls! 🛍️
