We believe that amazing things can happen in the great outdoors, whether it’s a Beaver spending their first night under canvas or an Explorer earning their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, we know the positive benefits that well organised Scout events can provide for young people. That’s why we work hard to bring you an excellent venue for your next adventure, enabling you to focus on inspiring young pe

ople to reach their potential and helping them to develop skills for life! Wemyss Firs is set in mature woodland off the A915 Standing Stane Road, Kirkcaldy, offering a secluded 4-acre camping field with indoor kitchen, dining, activity and toilet facilities.Wemyss Firs has a long history with Scouting. It was first used as a training centre for the Wood Badge Training Scheme for leaders in 1921 and training continued at the site until 1939. The last training course (69th) was held in August 1939, then training was abandoned with the outbreak of World War II. After the war, SHQ and Adult Training moved from Wemyss Firs to Fordell Firs.A lease was set up between Kirkcaldy District Scout Council and Captain Michael Wemyss for the use of the current site as a Scout campsite in 1986.In 2014, we were offered the opportunity of a new modular building and have invested heavily in this fantastic new facility at the site. The new building has replaced the two timber huts that were previously at the site and incorporates a kitchen, dining room, activity room and toilets all in one building. The site is available to book by non-profit organisations.

Why do people volunteer?

There's more to Scouting than you might think! We have opportunities in a wide range of roles from working directly with young people..... to supporting behind the scenes. Whatever time commitment you can offer, we’ll be delighted to have you onboard.

Volunteers can make a difference by fundraising, organising resources, general administration, being a member of a trustee board, or running our weekly programmes.
