K-HOLE hits the cinema big screen this Friday and launches simultaneously online.

K-HOLE is a UK ketamine documentary produced by Inspired Youth in partnership with Believe in People Podcast, exploring ketamine addiction, ketamine bladder damage, substance misuse, trauma, recovery, treatment and the impact ketamine is having on individuals, families and communities.

As ketamine-related harm becomes an increasing concern across the UK, K-HOLE explores what can happen when recreational ketamine use develops into dependency and the serious physical, psychological and social consequences that can follow.

At the centre of K-HOLE is a simple message: people experiencing problems with ketamine deserve information, understanding and access to support without stigma.

The documentary forms part of a wider campaign bringing together lived experience, treatment, healthcare, harm reduction and creative storytelling to increase understanding of ketamine-related harm and connect people with support.

KETAMINE SUPPORT IN HULL

ReNew Hull is Hull's commissioned drug and alcohol service, delivered by Change Grow Live, providing free and confidential support for people affected by drugs and alcohol.

The campaign accompanies the Hull Ketamine Support Pathway, helping professionals and people who use ketamine recognise potential problems earlier and understand where support is available.

If you're concerned about your own ketamine use or somebody else's, you do not have to wait until things become severe before asking for help. www.changegrowlive.org/ReNew

It's Recovery Month! We're excited to share that after months of filming across the North of England, listening to people's lived experience and speaking with the professionals supporting them, we're ready to share the film.

K-HOLE explores the reality of ketamine use, the damage it can cause and the impact it can have on people, families and communities. This documentary isn't about judgement or scare tactics; it's about honest conversations, understanding the risks and helping people recognise when support is needed.

K-HOLE is available to watch on YouTube on September 4th.

Follow Believe in People for updates and more from the campaign. ๐Ÿ’œ

The Ark House team visited Renew in Hull this week, a free and confidential service that supports anyone suffering from drug or alcohol issues.

Marek and Artur are both from Poland and spoke to other Polish speaking clients at ReNew Hull. They know first hand that Polish people in the UK dealing with drug and alcohol problems face distinct cultural, language, and systemic barriers.

Many delay seeking help until they face severe health consequences, homelessness, or legal trouble due to social stigma, a high cultural normalisation of heavy drinking, and a lack of familiarity with services available including residential rehab, like Ark House.

๐Ÿ’œ Today is World Hepatitis Day Did you know that hepatitis can affect anyone, but early testing and treatment can make a life changing difference?

In this video, our Lead Harm Reduction Worker Elly talks about safer injecting and our new safer injecting equipment, some simple ways to reduce the risk of blood-borne viruses such as hepatitis B and hepatitis C are:

โœ”๏ธ Never share injecting equipment
โœ”๏ธ Always use sterile equipment
โœ”๏ธ Dispose of used equipment safely
โœ”๏ธ Get tested regularly if youโ€™re at risk

The good news is Hepatitis C is curable and testing is quick and simple.

If youโ€™re worried about hepatitis and want to access safer injecting equipment, or would like to find out more about testing and treatment, weโ€™re here to help without judgement.

๐ŸŽฃ What a great day out! Last week we took part in a fishing tournament with The Bridges, bringing service users and staff together for some friendly competition.

It was great to see everyone getting involved, supporting one another. We were also pleased to welcome BBC Humberside, who came along to find out more about the positive impact recovery activities like this can have.

Well done to everyone who took part! ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ’™
