Our aim is to make better and safer riders of us all! Welcome to Advanced Riding for Bikers
The aim of the Club is to promote a safe and responsible approach to motorcycling and to encourage all members to improve their riding skills and knowledge within their individual capability. The club will be independent and only affiliated to the MAG. (Affiliation to MAG facilitates Public Liability Insu
rance for our guidance activities, and other advantages for members). Interested? Potential members are invited to join us for a social run or an individual ride assessment. This will enable you to sample what the club can offer you both socially and in terms of skill development. (For more information, please check out our Facebook site for EVENTS and other articles). New members will be encouraged to progress towards a level of advanced riding skill. While strongly encouraged, an external test is not mandatory unless a Member wishes to progress to Observer status. An external test can presently be taken through ‘BMF’, ‘Rospa’ or the ‘IAM’ We are also developing an Advanced Riding for Bikers, externally examined Advanced Test, which will be to at least the same standard, and at a lower cost. What will it cost? Annual Membership is currently £25 per year. Having sampled our activities, new Members are expected to take up a program of guidance under the wing of an Observer, within the first month of joining. For most riders, achievement to the appropriate level typically takes between six and ten observed rides, and is therefore readily achievable within the first year. The cost for this is £75, and we offer the option to spread this over ten months by standing order at £7.50 per month. The funds accrued allow the club to make a contribution to the Observers’ fuel costs. There are no further costs to the new member within their first year. Non riding members such as pillions and spouses will be able to join the club as ‘Friends’ with a membership subscription of £10. All club members will have full voting rights.. Our Observers
Our qualified Observers will be maintaining their standards through both our internal observer training program and external examination
