Mr and Mrs Ward!!

We were truly honoured to be to join Emily and Ben at their wedding celebrations on Saturday at the Grand Lodge at Oaklands in East Yorkshire. Emily is an amazing trustee for our Charity and is wonderfully supportive of all our events.

Emily and Stephen were great mates throughout school days at Wolfreton School, and a lovely tribute and photo of Stephen was placed in the main hall by Emily and Ben.

It was a very special and memorable day and wishing Emily and Ben a lifetime of love, laughter, adventures and quiz nights!!

𝗡𝗘𝗫𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛 𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧!

A new month means a new game and a new cause. For November, Derbyshire CFC are proud to be raising money for The Stephen Hughes Foundation.

The Charity has two key fundraising purposes. The first is to support vital research into developing effective diagnosis and treatment for Myocarditis, a condition estimated to be responsible for between 5–20% of sudden deaths in healthy young adults. The Foundation also works to pass on Stephen’s passion for sport to children. Through the Stephen Hughes Sports Development Grants, over 2,500 children in community groups and primary schools have been able to access sporting opportunities that were previously unavailable to them.

We are honoured to support a charity creating meaningful change through both lifesaving research and life-changing opportunities for young people.

It was a beautiful day at Chatsworth House Gardens in the Peak District today as all the family came together to remember Stephen’s Birthday.

Stephen would have been 35 years old today and we miss him so much. For the last eleven years, since we lost Stephen, we have come together every year at Chatsworth. We do this as we have fabulous memories of Stephen paddling in the cascade on his nan’s special birthday, and we always gather for a photo in the same place.

The annual visit to Chatsworth is always a very special day and it was wonderful to return in the wonderful autumn sunshine today.

Breaking News!!

One Amazing Hike 2025 raised a fantastic £1914 for The Stephen Hughes Foundations. More funds are likely to come in and this amazing amount has already exceeded last year’s total.

We had a wonderful day in the beautiful Peak District on Sunday and on our annual charity walk and a record of 23 walkers started and successfully completed the eight-mile Curbar Edge circular walk from Baslow.

The weather was fantastic on the day with excellent walking conditions. It was such a lovely group, and we never stopped laughing all weekend. As the group included ukulele players we finished the day with a rousing ukulele Strum Along at the Wheatsheaf Hotel in Baslow followed by a Quiz with the theme of hiking and the Peak District. It was certainly an amazing hike and day to remember!!

A huge thankyou to everyone who participated in One Amazing Hike 2025 and to all who sponsored hikers or donated to The Stephen Hughes Foundation. We are overwhelmed by the fabulous amount raised and all funds will support our aim of Saving Young Hearts through pioneering research into the heart disease Myocarditis and our Music and Sports Development Grants for children of primary school age.

You can still donate to the walk through this just Giving Link: One Amazing Hike 2025 - JustGiving

The great support for One Amazing Hike 2025 is a giant step towards achieving our next fundraising milestone of £150,000. We will also be launching a new round of Music Development Grant later this month. Big hugs and massive thanks - Gary and Hazel
