⛵🌊 12 SCOUTS. 12 NEW ADVENTURES. 1 BIG CHALLENGE! 🌊⛵

Today, 12 of our Scouts took on a brand-new challenge — sailing for the very first time! ⚜️💙

For some, stepping onto a sailing boat for the first time was a little daunting. But with plenty of encouragement, teamwork and a willingness to give it a go, they soon found themselves learning how to handle the boat, work together and let the wind do the hard work! 🌬️⛵

There were smiles, a few nerves, plenty of laughter and, most importantly, 12 Scouts pushing themselves outside their comfort zones and trying something completely new.

This is exactly what Scouting is all about — adventure, confidence, teamwork and creating memories that will last a lifetime. 🙌

We couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them. What an incredible first step into the world of sailing! 💪⚜️

🏌️‍♂️⛳ FORE! The Mowgli Cubs take on a brand-new challenge! ⛳🏌️‍♀️

Our Mowgli Cubs swapped their usual Scouting activities for something completely different as they headed to the golf driving range to have a go at a brand-new sport! 🌟

With clubs in hand and plenty of enthusiasm, the Cubs took on the challenge of learning how to swing, aim and hopefully send those golf balls flying! 💥🏌️‍♂️

There were some impressive shots, a few unexpected ones 😂 and lots of laughter along the way. Most importantly, everyone had the chance to try something new, learn a new skill and challenge themselves.

That’s what Scouting is all about — giving young people the confidence to have a go, discover new interests and enjoy experiences they might never have tried before! ⚜️💚

Great effort, Cubs — you definitely hit this adventure out of the park! 👏⛳

🛶🌊 City of Hull Annual Raft Race! 🌊🛶

What a fantastic day for our Scouts and Explorers, taking part in the City of Hull’s annual Raft Race!

Before they could even think about racing, the teams had to put their skills to the test and build their own rafts from scratch. From planning and construction to teamwork and a healthy dose of problem-solving, there was plenty to keep everyone busy! 🔨🪢

Once the rafts were ready, it was time to hit the water and see if their creations could stay afloat! 🚣‍♂️💦 There was plenty of excitement, laughter, competition and, inevitably, a few wet Scouts and Explorers along the way!

A brilliant opportunity for everyone to develop teamwork, communication, practical skills and resilience while having an amazing time together.

Well done to all our Scouts and Explorers who took part — you should all be proud of yourselves! 👏

🌿🧭 Explorers getting stuck in at Raywell! 🧭🌿

Our Explorer Scouts have been out at Raywell Scout Activity Centre, getting stuck into a range of jobs around the site and doing their bit to help keep the centre looking its best! 💪

From practical tasks to working as a team, they’ve been building new skills, gaining valuable experience and, of course, working towards their Activity Centre Badge along the way. 🏕️🔨

It’s fantastic to see our Explorers putting their skills into action, taking on responsibility and supporting the wider Scouting community. Well done everyone! 👏⚜️

This year has been an exciting one for Cottingham Scouts as, for the very first time, we’ve welcomed our brand-new Squirrel Scouts! 🐿️💛

Our youngest members have wasted no time getting stuck into the fun, already earning badges, completing adventures, and discovering what Scouting is all about. From trying new activities and making new friends to building confidence and learning new skills, they’ve embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and big smiles.

It’s been fantastic to see our Squirrels thriving, and we can’t wait to watch them continue their Scouting journey and achieve even more over the coming months.

Well done to all of our amazing Squirrel Scouts—we’re so proud of everything you’ve accomplished already!

Earlier this summer, our Cubs and Scouts swapped dry land for the water as they headed out for an exciting introduction to kayaking! 🛶☀️

From learning the basics of paddling and steering to building confidence on the water, everyone embraced the challenge with huge smiles and plenty of enthusiasm. It was fantastic to see them encouraging one another, developing new skills, and enjoying a brilliant outdoor adventure together.

Experiences like these are what Scouting is all about—trying something new, building confidence, making memories, and having lots of fun along the way!

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the session possible. We can’t wait to get back out on the water again! 🌊💙

What a fantastic weekend was had in July for Cottingham Scouts & Explorers at the City of Hull Open Challenge! 🏕️🎉

Our Scouts put in an incredible performance and came away with:
🏆 Best Gateway
🥈 Runner-up in Scout Skills
🥈 Runner-up in the Sports Events
🥇 Overall Scout Winners!

Our Explorers also did themselves proud, finishing as Overall Runners-up! 🌟 An especially amazing achievement considering they are such a young team. Their determination, teamwork, and enthusiasm were outstanding throughout the weekend.

A huge well done to everyone who took part, and thank you to all the volunteers, and supporters who helped make it happen. We couldn’t be prouder of what you’ve achieved!

🌊💙 What a term it’s been on the water! 💙🌊

This summer, our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers have all been making a splash with an action-packed programme of water adventures! 🚣🛶🏄⛵

From sailing across the water and building rafts, to kayaking, paddle boarding, and learning vital water safety skills, our young people have challenged themselves, built confidence, developed teamwork, and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Whether it was mastering a new skill, stepping outside their comfort zone, or simply enjoying the sunshine with friends, every section embraced the adventure and showed what Scouting is all about.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers and activity instructors who made these incredible experiences possible. Here’s to many more adventures on—and off—the water! 🌞🌊
