Update on Our Waiting List – Spaces Now Available!

Following a recent clean‑up of our waiting list, a number of young people who were no longer eligible or contactable have now been removed.

This means we currently have spaces available in:
✨ Scouts (ages 10–14)
✨ Explorers (ages 14–18)

Only around 3.1% of young people in the UK are part of Scouts.

And of those, just 0.11% go on to achieve the King’s Scout Award each year.

That means being an Explorer Scout already sets you apart and earning the top award puts you in a seriously small and impressive group.

We’re launching a new Explorer Scout Unit for 14–18 year olds, focused on challenge, adventure, leadership, and real-life skills. Explorers push themselves, try new experiences in a safe and supportive environment, and build confidence that carries into education, careers, and beyond.
Now imagine writing that on a university or job application.

If you’re aged 14–18 and want to do something that genuinely enhances your opportunities for the future, Explorers is the place to start.

Could you be our next lead volunteer?

We’re looking for a volunteer to take the lead at Cottingham Scout Group with a behind the scenes role that is focused on keeping the group running and on track.

What you’ll be doing:
- General administration (eg. Keeping our membership systems up to date and completing DBS checks).
- Point of contact for the places we meet.
- Supporting the groups volunteers and ensuring they are up to date with relevant learning (such as Safety, Safeguarding and First Response).
- Being the point of contact for enquiries both externally and within Scouting.
- Planning for the future and growing the Scout Group.

Think of it like the groups manager.

This role can either be don’t individually or as a team, whatever works best for you. And it’s flexible too, there’s no need to attend section meetings (unless you want to) so you can complete the tasks at a time and place that suits you.
