We are a group of local residents and volunteers who have been invited by Hull City Council to care for the Setting D**e Community Greenspace since 2018. Freinds of Garrowby Orchard Community
FRIENDS OF GARROWBY ORCHARD COMMUNITY·TUESDAY, 11 AUGUST 2020·
Local residents were invited by Hull City Council to look after and manage the land of the old Setting D**e Junior School in Derringham, West Hul
l. Since then the 2.5 hectare site of community woodland, community orchard and greenspace has been open to any one at anytime of the year to come and explore and experience nature in the city of Hull. It is managed with the lightest of touches so that nature and biodiversity can thrive and increase for all our benefit. Residents and volunteers keep the fields clear of litter. We also keep the Willerby Carr D**e free of the usual rubbish often dumped into urban water courses. It has become a home to various water insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles and small mammals. The diversity of plant life has increased as nature takes advantage of the space. It is open to any one at anytime. The footpaths make it accessible to wheelchairs and baby buggies. We have a five-a-side football pitch and hard standing for exercise and recreation. The footpaths allow for running and walking exercise. Dog walkers are welcome (please pick up after your dog as the footpaths and football pitch do get used a lot by adults, families and children). You can find us in Derringham Ward here https://www.google.com/maps/place/Setting+D**e+Community+Green+Space/@53.7627058,-0.4095365,17.52z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x4878bff929d9f239:0xb50f99c3e58803d5!8m2!3d53.7627404!4d-0.4072649
Please enjoy your visit and please leave the Setting D**e Community Greenspace as green as you found it. Thank you from all the residents and volunteers.
