We support people who are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping in Hull.

🌅 Early morning views from our Hull Street Outreach team. Our team is out across the city every day, engaging with people who may be sleeping rough and offering support when it's needed most.

As the weather gets colder, a simple act can make a real difference. If you're concerned about someone sleeping rough, please let us know through StreetLink. A quick referral could be the first step in helping someone access the support, accommodation and services they need.

It is the time of year again where we start our appeal for the festive period.

We are again providing a full Chrismas dinner, presents and chocolate for 120 of Hulls Homeless, lonely or anyone in need on 25th Dec at a time and venue ti be confirmed.
If you able to donate any of the items listed blew we would be eternally grateful.

Selection boxes
Small wrapped gifts (we will need 80 mens & 40 ladies.)
Any thing else you think would be nice to hand out.
We are not asking for any volunteers as yet as we like to use people familiar to ahd trusted by our service users , some of whom are extremley vulnerable so we tend to use volunteers from Hulls established Soup Kitchens first but will put a shout out when we know how many extra pairs of hands we may need.

💜 Last week we took part in the Women's Rough Sleeping Census, working alongside partner agencies across Hull to better understand women's experiences of rough sleeping and the support they need.

Throughout the week, our outreach teams carried out early morning and late night visits across the city, including areas where women experiencing rough sleeping may be less visible. We also opened a women-only space at Trafalgar House, where we had a safe place to chat, get support, collect hygiene packs kindly donated through Ellie's Essentials, and enjoy hot drinks, snacks and vouchers.

With support from our partner organisations and volunteers, we completed a number of surveys with women experiencing rough sleeping. One of thing we found was that women often experience rough sleeping differently to men, which can make them harder to identify and support. Many women avoid staying out in the open for long, meaning they can often go unseen.

Thank you to the women who shared their experiences and helped build a better understanding of the challenges they face, and to the organisations and volunteers who made this important work possible. Every story shared helps us work towards better support and positive change for women.

A common misconception is that StreetLink provides emergency accommodation or housing directly.

StreetLink is a free service that connects people sleeping rough with the local outreach teams best placed to help. When you submit an alert, it's sent to the relevant outreach service, who will try to locate the individual, assess their needs and offer appropriate support.

Over the past few weeks, we've taken you through what happens after you submit a StreetLink alert. We hope it's shown how a few minutes of your time can help someone sleeping rough access the support they need.

☀️ Small actions can make a big difference.

Following on from our last post, here are some simple ways that you can help someone sleeping rough during the hot weather.

💜 Say hello and check if they’re okay.
💧 Offer a bottle of water, sun cream or a hat if you can.
📍 If you’re worried about someone sleeping rough, send an alert through StreetLink so local outreach services can help.
🌳 Let them know about nearby places where they can access shade, drinking water and support.

Every small act of kindness can help someone stay safe in the heat.
