Community power in action! 📚✨

A massive shoutout to Carl, who popped into the Library to lend a helping hand. Thanks to his support, we’ve got two wonderful items back in full circulation!

Even better? Both of these items were originally donated by our amazing local community—making this a total double win! 🎉 🙌

Repair Café round-up!

What a brilliant session today with Unity in Community HU6 Our volunteer Pat and Alan were busy all day giving much-loved kit a second life

Here's what came through the door:

Deborah's leaf blower wouldn't blow – we cleared the blockage and it's back in action!

Barry's dehumidifier had stopped pumping – we traced it to a blown capacitor, so a replacement part is on order

Amanda's hedge trimmer got a proper sharpen – those hedges don't stand a chance!

Jenny's Dyson is fixed and back to full suction power

And a special shout-out to Phil, who's been waiting patiently since earlier this year for his Bluetooth speaker!

Repairing the USB socket was a real challenge – it needed special liquid solder and a heat blower running at 350–400°C We learned something new today too!

Every repair means less waste, money saved and one less thing heading to landfill

Got something broken? Don't bin it – register your item here and we will invite you to the next one https://borrow.libraryofstuff.co.uk/new-repair 🛠️💚🛠️

🔧 Repair Café with Unity in Community HU6 was a blast!
Pat and I had a brilliant time getting hands-on with the community this month — here's what came through our doors:
🧊 Camper fridge — needs regassing and new parts. They're on order, watch this space!
🔌 Old iron — needed a full cable replacement. Fiddly job, but we got there!
⛄ Animatronic snowman — lost some of his moves! Pat's on the case — work in progress and we're rooting for him!
🌿 Garden chipper — wouldn't power on at all. Traced it down to a dodgy interlock and got it sorted!
🔊 Bluetooth speaker — needs a new charging port. Parts ordered, back on the bench next time!
Some great wins, a couple of jobs still in progress — that's the beauty of Repair Café! 💪
Huge thanks to everyone who came along and trusted us with their treasures. Every repair is one less thing in landfill. ♻️
Got something that needs fixing? Hit the New Repair link at the bottom of this page borrow.libraryofstuff.co.uk— and please bear with us, we're a monthly event.
See you next time! 🛠️

🔧 We fixed our K4 Classic Pressure Washer — and it only cost £27.60.
It started leaking and couldn't build pressure. Sounds like the end, right? Wrong.
11 screws later (7 to open the casing, 4 to remove the head), we spotted the culprit — watermarks on the pump head. A replacement part, a bit of time, and it's back to full power.
Now think about how many pressure washers end up in landfill or recycling because of exactly this kind of fault. A single part. Sometimes one you can't even buy.
That's why we do what we do. Borrow, use, repair, reuse. 💚⚒️💚
