Why are thunderstorms so hit and miss?
Why is it important to warn people about them, even if they are not always guaranteed?
"A thunderstorm is a series of sudden electrical discharges resulting from atmospheric conditions. These discharges produce sudden flashes of light and trembling sound waves, commonly known as lightning and thunder. Thunderstorms develop when the atmosphere is unstable. This is when warm air exists underneath much colder air. In the UK, thunderstorms can occur at any time of the year, but the most severe usually occur in the summer months, particularly after a couple of days of hot, humid and sunny weather."
