Well nearly 48hrs on and the young people and volunteers are recovering from our best weekend yet!!
127 young people and adults had an amazing weekend away for the annual Big Welsh Campout 2026 at Pembrey Country Park, joined by the 9th/21st Plymouth Scout Group! 🏴
The weekend really was jam packed with just about every activity we could squeeze in to a 4 day camp! 🏕️
Friday was pitch up and park in the dark, with the arrival of the Plymouth Scout Group. 🌙
Saturday we embarked on a walk to Burry Port for ice cream, followed by a train ride to Kidwelly. We then had a feast of chips and snacks with a sneak peak into the local church, including a beautiful piece played on the organ by one of our very own Scouts! 🍟
We then set off for next part of the walk and into Kidwelly Castle, which included a fantastic talk and reenactment by the local society. 🏰
We then headed back to camp to enjoy dinner with lots of hot chocolate, campfires and even the Cubs and Scouts putting on their very own talent show . 🎭
Sunday was even busier with the Beavers joining us for the day! We started the day with toboggan rides and tubing on the ski slope. Bike rides on the pump track, and a spot of lunch. 🚲
Then the afternoon activities included archery, tomahawk throwing, grass sleds, miniature railway, bus rides and a visit to the steam rally. 🏹
We finished the day with a slip and slide, huge campfire with laughter, songs and practical jokes. 🔥
Monday came the rain, but the Cubs and Scouts rose to the challenge of decamping and everyone then finished camp with tired but smiling faces! ☔️
We want to thank Plymouth for joining us and we hope you had a wonderful weekend.
We also want to say a massive massive thank you to all the local businesses and most of all the volunteers! You really did make Pembrey a wonderful place to be! 🌟
