Thank you to everyone who came along on Sunday and supported our 7th Nearly New Sale..
The donations for the next event are flowing in, and are currently sat in our holding area for sorting.
We’re taking a step away for the rest of the summer. We’ve barely spent a moment away. Family days are none existent. Christian was made redundant too just weeks after Reggie was born. We’ve taken a significant financial hit because of Remembering Romeo. We dedicate between us an average of 50 hours a week. It is incomprehensible how much time and effort goes into what we’re doing for charity. We do not gain financially in any way shape or form.
Reggie is now 3 months old, and I’ve had just two weeks of that off. I sometimes feel so frustrated because I feel like so few actually realise what goes into it and how consuming it is. It’s the only thing keeping our son alive, when he’s dead.
Imagine how it feels to walk into the hospital in labour excited to meet your baby, to be told moments later he’s died. You go through labour, you give birth, but instead your baby’s stillborn. Deteriorating right before your eyes. Your time limited. You go home., your milk comes in, except you’ve no baby to feed. You wake up to check your baby, your mind and body don’t realise your baby is no longer here. It’s a drag path. You call your family to say you’re at the hospital except it’s not the call they expect, you’ve called them to tell them your babies died. Most would absolutely crumble after experiencing what we have.
I don’t really know the point in this post, I just feel so frustrated and unappreciated at times. We created something to benefit our community and bereaved families in conjunction with one another as an all rounder. I don’t want to give that up, but some days I really do just think… why. Some days I want to throw the towel in.
Today is one of those days. They’re rare but it’s one of those harder days, where I’m probably just better off in bed. I don’t really show my vulnerability often with regards to Romeo, but he was our baby. He was everything we dreamt about, and it was completely and utterly robbed from us.
I wish he was here, because if love could have saved him he’d be immortal. Sunday marked 15 months since I last touched him, tucking him into his coffin to say goodnight one last time.
I miss you so much baby boy. You are our everything 💙
