Growing Well

Growing Well We have three Cumbrian sites: Kendal, Tebay and Egremont. We are a mental health charity, an organic farm and a training centre.

We’re here to help people in our communities
to activate their own mental health recovery,
and make sustainable, lasting changes so that
they can live a healthier life. If you’re feeling depressed, anxious or finding everyday life difficult, then we may be able to help.

A small thank you for a big contribution!

This Volunteers’ Week, we've been giving thank you gifts to the volunteers who help make our Growing Well at Tebay Services site what it is.

Could you volunteer with Growing Well at Tebay Services? Support Volunteers work alongside people accessing our mental health service. Community Volunteers help with practical horticultural tasks that keep the growing work moving. Find out more:

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating all the volunteers at Growing Well West Cumbria at Beck Green Nurseries in Egremont.

One of our West Cumbria Support Volunteers told us:

“I have been volunteering with Growing Well for over a year and have loved being part of the growing process, both in the gardens and alongside the people being supported. Supporting people as they develop skills, confidence and wellbeing has been incredibly rewarding, and it’s been a privilege to work as part of such a supportive and caring community. On a personal level, the experience has also been healing for me, and I’m very grateful to be involved in such meaningful work.”

Volunteering at Growing Well takes different forms. Support Volunteers work alongside people taking part in our mental health service, while Community Volunteers help with practical horticultural tasks and site work.

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re saying a big thank you to the Give A Day Kendal volunteers from Financial Management Bureau - FMB who joined us at our Sizergh site. They got stuck into the polytunnels and in the field, helping with practical growing work.

Could you be a volunteer with Growing Well? Support Volunteers work alongside people taking part in our mental health service, while Community Volunteers help with practical horticultural tasks and site work. Email: [email protected] to express your interest.

Could your business support our work? Give A Day Kendal is a brilliant example of how local organisations can get involved in their community. We’re always keen to hear from businesses interested in sponsorship or longer-term partnerships.

The journey begins.

The Big Hoof set off this morning from our site in Egremont - starting to make their way 70 miles across the Lake District.

We’re excited to follow them over the next 8 days and will be sharing pics and videos.

A big thank you again to the team for choosing to support and raise money for Growing Well.

🔎 What do we mean by “evidence-based” support?

It sounds technical, but it simply means that we use approaches proven to help the mental health of real people, in real moments of need.

It’s how we can help people avert crises and stay well. 🌱

“I can feel safe here”

At Growing Well, our evidence-based mental health support helps the people who visit us feel safe, valued and included.

What does this support look like in practice?
🌱 quick referral, assessment and joining
🌱1:1 individualised support sessions
🌱 trauma informed care

Our support, delivered at a critical moment, helps to improve mental wellbeing and resilience. Psychology-led support is one of the seven core activities we provide to enable positive mental health change.

It’s part of our Logic Model: https://loom.ly/Ir3l7gA
