The Marymass Pram Race is returning for 2026! 😍🙌🍼🤪

After more than 40 years, we are beyond excited to announce the Marymass Pram Race is returning!

Now for the fun part... where, when and how to get involved:

Like any classic reboot, we're making some changes to the event! The race will now take place on Irvine Moor on Saturday 15th August at 9:35pm, right before the fireworks display. Our race track will be in the exclusion zone in front of the Greasy Pole. Yes, that's right, it's a light up pram race!

We are looking for teams of 3, two pushing and one in the pram. We will provide the prams free of charge to teams that would like to take part, and it's down to you to decorate and light them up! Please note, only prams we provide are able to participate this year.

Then, all teams should take part in the Festival of Light parade at 9pm, leaving from Irvine Townhouse and heading to the Moor ahead of the big race. Nice and easy, come along, show off your pram and team, then race in front of crowds of over 5,000!

We will have a maximum of 8 teams for the first year. We have prizes for best decorated pram/best dressed team and of course for the winner of the race. The more creative the designs, the better!

Teams can be made up of friends, families, businesses or community groups. All participants must be over the age of 16.

To take part, please send us a message or drop us an email to [email protected] and we'll send you out an entry form!

We are also looking for a sponsor for the event. Get in touch if this is of interest to you or your business.

We are very excited about this new addition to our festival and forms part of our plans to continue improving Marymass each year. Interested? Get in touch today www.marymass.com

We've been discussing lots about Marymass in years gone by, and some of us are a bit young to remember some of the past tradiations.

Do you remember the pram race, the piano bashing or even the pillow fights from years ago? Maybe even the shows at the Golffields?
