The Bus Shelter Ipswich is part of a growing network working towards reducing the amount of rough sleepers on our streets.

We are a Community interest company (CIC) that is soley dependant on the support and donations from the public and local business. providing rough sleepers with a warm dry and safe environment as well as hot food and the support they need to get back into society

Outreach Update

Good afternoon, followers! 😊

Last night, we carried out our usual Wednesday evening outreach in town. Although we didn’t see as many of our familiar faces as usual, we still had a good turnout.

Everyone enjoyed a delicious venison curry, followed by homemade rice pudding. We also had a good supply of cold sandwiches and bananas, along with our usual selection of hot and cold drinks.

Everyone seemed in good spirits and appeared to be doing well. The evening ended peacefully, with no dramas — just full bellies and happy faces! 😊

Good morning, followers! ☺️

Some of you may remember that, over the summer, we received a massive donation of outreach supplies, organised by Charlie. She successfully applied for a £200 community grant through an investment company called Foresters Financial. 💙

Well, Charlie has done it again! 🙌 The same lovely lady has applied for another grant through Foresters Financial, but this time for an incredible £1,500! 🎉

The grant was awarded to help us put together winter care packs for the people we support out on the streets. Each pack contains:

🛏️ Sleeping bags
🧼 Hygiene kits
🧦 Socks
👕 Thermal tops
🧢 Beanie hats
🧤 Gloves
🔦 Torches, including batteries
💧 Refillable water bottles
🩹 First aid kits
📝 Notebooks and pens

Alongside these, we also have additional outreach supplies, including bowls, disposable cutlery, crisps, chocolate, water and wipes.
Yesterday, Charlie and a small team of wonderful volunteers came to the warehouse and got to work putting these bags together. The result? A whopping 40 winter care packs! 😀👏

Over the coming weeks, we'll be handing these out during our outreach evenings and responding to any call-outs we receive.
These packs will make a real difference to the people we support, helping them stay a little warmer and providing some essential items during the colder months. ❤️

A HUGE thank you to Charlie, all the volunteers who gave up their time, and Foresters Financial for making this possible. Your generosity and support mean so much to us and to the people we help. 💙🙏

Good morning, followers! ☺️

As some of you may remember, a few of our volunteers took part in a sponsored sleep-out the other weekend.

Hopefully, some of you managed to read the write-up in the Ipswich Star, which gives you an insight into Tink’s motivation behind the sleep-out. For those who haven’t seen it, I’ll pop the link in the comments.

As a result of the sleep-out, the three of them managed to raise a massive £1,400!! 🎉

This will go a long way towards providing the extra supplies and services we need, especially now that the weather is getting colder and wetter. 🥶🌧️

Good afternoon followers ☺️

Back in August we received an email from Chloe who works for AXA Liabilities Managers, based on Civic Drive in Ipswich. She is also the chair of the Corporate Responsibility Committee. She messaged to say that during the month of September, she will be asking employees to bring in food donations to then donate them to our foodbank as they did a couple of years ago ☺️

Today we took delivery of their donations and we want to say a massive thank you to those who donated to this and to Chloe for organising.

Just a quick update on our 3 volunteer rough sleepers in felixstowe.

All 3 are settled and ready to face a chilly night out on the streets, all in aid of raising vital funds and awareness for what we do as an organisation.

If you're able to, there is still time to donate however large or small, every pound goes towards helping us to make a difference .

Let's give them our support and wish them a safe night out.

Good evening followers 😊

Even though we have been quiet on our socials, we have still been very active in doing what we do best and thats supporting those in need.

I would like to share the below and which is from my shop manager Tink/Lois, the same person I first met 10 yrs ago as a very poorly, vunerable street homeless drug addict. To whom i am now very proud to have as a reliable, trustworthy colleague and a good friend.

Tomorrow (10/10/2026) i will be taking part in the “sleep out” to try and raise money for the homeless during the colder months ahead.

Its been many years since ive been in a sleeping bag, on a cold pavement. I faced some extremely traumatic times during my past, but im willing, and happy to do this. Whats 2 nights of sleeping rough, outside in the cold, when people out there are doing it for weeks, months and years?

We still have a little bit left to raise to reach our target, and are asking if anybody would be willing, and happy to sponsor us 😊

We can take cash payments (in the shop). PayPal and bank transfer.

Any amount no matter how little or big, helps! It will help to provide warm drinks and meals, sleeping bags, hygiene packs and more.
