Dior has one very important job around the kennels...

Making sure she doesn’t miss out on anything.

Whether it’s a walk, a game, a treat, or simply someone stopping to say hello, Dior likes to be right in the middle of it all. If there’s more than one person with her, she’ll regularly check everyone is still there and paying attention before carrying on with whatever she was doing.

She’s a happy, affectionate girl who loves people and never seems to run out of enthusiasm for making new friends.

One minute she’s trotting around the field, chasing after a ball or seeing what’s going on, the next she’s back looking for cuddles and fuss from whoever happens to be closest.

Dior has plenty of character, loves being involved, and always finds a way to make herself the centre of attention.

Dior is currently looking for a home.

WALES RESCUE - CENTRE OF LEARNING
Did you know that pigs are among the most intelligent species on the planet?

Scientifically speaking, these clever creatures have cognitive abilities comparable to a three-year-old human. Some have even mastered video games, and their memory skills are absolutely exceptional!

With that in mind, our staff at the Wales Rescue are constantly on the lookout for fun, creative ways to keep our resident pigs stimulated - especially youngsters Rupert and Edith, who have been with us since they were piglets. This time, we decided to set them a bit of a challenge. You’ve probably seen videos online of people training their dogs to use talking buttons - hitting "Treat" when they’re hungry, or "Out" when they want some fresh air. Well, we thought: ā€œWhy should the dogs have all the fun?Sophie set up two buttons, one for ā€œTreatsā€ and one for ā€œBelly Rubsā€, and let the pigs loose to navigate the chaos. So, how are the end-of-term grades looking, you ask?

Rupert (A+): Our star pupil! Rupert is officially the best learner of the bunch!
Edith (B+): His sister isn't too far behind! She gets a solid B+ for fantastic effort and enthusiasm.
Hippo (C-): Then there's Hippo. Dear Hippo languishes in last place, not really seeing the need to work too hard for his supper and settling for a very casual C- (and trust us, we’re being generous markers!) šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Having this sort of fun with our pigs is a wonderful reminder of just how exceptional these animals truly are, but it also reminds us that not all pigs out there are so lucky.

At Freshfields Animal Rescue, we won’t rest until we are able to wave each of these clever characters off to a safe, loving home where they can play, learn, and get all the belly scratches they could ever want.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the further exploits of our brainy bunch, but in the meantime, keep an eye on our social media for the latest updates as they happen. And if you, or anyone you know, is capable of seeing the incredible potential in our animals and wants to adopt a pig that can literally tell you what they need, please don’t hesitate to email [email protected] Your new best friend might just be waiting for you !!

Bunny was adopted from the Liverpool centre last week and look how much she has made herself at home ā¤

Bunny was taken to a vets to be put to sleep as she was apparently attacking her owner and other cats in the home. Thankfully we were contacted and had a space for her. Since arriving with us we did not see any aggression from Bunny, she is a very sweet, gentle cat who didn't thrive in rescue. She often hid in the back of her pen until someone interacted with her, at which point she was head booping and nuzzling like crazy. Thankfully, someone saw what a gorgeous cat she was and how much love she could give so gave her a second chance at a home.

Adopting a cat from us saves 2 lives. The cat you adopt and the cat that can be admitted into that space. We have huge amounts of calls for help and can only do so if we have spaces free!

We are so happy for Bunny and her new owner and wish them the happiest lives together 🄰

HORACE NEEDS A HOME -WALES RESCUE
🐾 Little Horace is the last one left behind… šŸ–¤
Out of a litter of five beautiful kittens, tiny Horace is still waiting for someone to choose him. Sadly, we knew this might happen… because Horace is the only black kitten in the litter.

Time and time again, black cats and kittens are overlooked, despite often being the sweetest souls of all. And little Horace really is exactly that — sweet, gentle, loving and desperate to be close to someone.

At 11 weeks old, Horace is much smaller than his siblings and still looks more like an 8 week old kitten. Being the tiniest of the litter hasn’t stopped him from having the biggest heart. While his brothers and sisters have all gone off to start their new lives, Horace is still waiting in his pen wondering when it will finally be his turn.
We’ve had several kitten applications on file, but despite multiple messages, nobody has come forward for this precious boy.

Horace needs a family. šŸ–¤
He is:
🐾 Vaccinated and microchipped
🐾 Able to live with other cats and calm dogs with proper introductions
🐾 Fine to live with children, he loves to play !!
🐾 Incredibly affectionate and loving
🐾 Ready to leave for his forever home now – please do not apply if you cannot adopt asap
Please don’t let him grow up in rescue simply because of the colour of his fur. The black ones so often have the kindest, most loving personalities — and Horace is proof of that.

Could you be the person who finally chooses him? šŸ–¤ Fill in our kitten application form below, or email [email protected].
Let’s find Horace a home !! Thank you, diolch.

Silva has been returned šŸ’” He is looking for an understanding and patient home 🄹

Beautiful Silva was a street cat turned best friend to a woman who loved him dearly. After she passed away he was left outside and needed help which came in the form of the wonderful people of Moggies and Doggies Merseyside who were able to bring him to us. He was very shut down in rescue but we knew he just needed a home again.

He was adopted in March and made amazing progress. He was affectionate. playful and confident. Sadly, his owner didn't feel like they were a good match and felt that Silva still had some anxieties in his home. We think this would be improved by having access to the outdoors again, after his settling in period.

Silva needs a home with someone who will be very patient with him and let him lead the way in the bonding process. He can become over-stimulated easily and mouth (not bite) so he needs someone who is confident with cats. He would not be suitable to home with small children. He could possibly live with other cats given careful introductions.

We are heartbroken that Silva is back in our care and he is struggling once again in rescue. We have heard what a sweet boy he is but he needs someone to look past the scared and growly boy that is here and see the cat he can be.

If you think you have space for Silva then please fill in an application form on our website. If not then please share!

Pedro has decided that this weather is best spent rotating between three things:

Launching himself around the field after his favourite ALDI ball, cooling off in the paddling pool, and finding the nearest person willing to stop for cuddles.

He’s a German Shepherd cross originally from Spain and has the kind of energy that’s hard not to smile at. One minute he’s bouncing around the grass like an oversized puppy, the next he’s pressed against your legs trying to get as close to you as physically possible.

Pedro loves people and always greets everyone like he’s known them for years. If he’s just been in the pool, there’s also a very good chance he’ll attempt to dry his beard on your legs while asking for fuss at the same time.

He’s playful, affectionate, full of character, and genuinely just a lovely dog to spend time with.

Pedro is currently looking for a home.

Introducing Dolly and Christy! Our newest arrivals here at the Wales rescue. 🐓🐓

These two girls came all the way from Cardigan bay. Their owner sadly had to go into a care home so they weren't able to keep them. It is obvious that they have been loved and well cared for in their previous home as they are really sweet girls.

They will be looking for their forever home soon. At the moment they are busy settling in, enjoying the lovely weather and getting to know everyone. Keep an eye on our website and socials for updates on this pair. ā¤

Frankie would love a home this Summer! ā¤

Frankie is our beautiful 4 year old lop bun. He came to us way back in 2022 and is still on the hunt for that special someone! 🐰

We all adore Frankie and he has come on leaps and bounds over the years. This gentleman loves a head scratch and always has someone giving him a head massage!

Recently, Frankie decided to show off his nest building skills. He is clearly craving some love and attention with a beautiful bunny wife by his side! ā¤

Frankie is a more dominant bun so would be best suited with a more relaxed female rabbit and a home that understands his needs. All Frankie needs is someone who is willing to be patient and give him the love he deserves.

If you are interested in Frankie, please fill out one of our bunny bonding forms on our website! 🐰

Madge has enjoyed a bit of extra attention recently but she’s just as content getting back to her usual routine.

A gentle run around, a bit of sunshine, onto her back for belly rubs… then back inside to her bed (or the coolest spot on the floor she can find).

She’s 7 years old but doesn’t really act it, still enjoys getting out and about, then switching off and relaxing just as easily. She’s also a little smaller than you might expect for her breed, which just adds to her charm.

Everyone who meets her comments on how lovely she is, she’s an easy dog to spend time with and enjoys a bit of company and attention.
