Many congratulations to AC Poppy on her National Youth Theatre place! 🎭

We are delighted to celebrate the success of Serafina, April, Poppy and Matthew who recently gained places with the prestigious National Youth Theatre, which provides young performers with opportunities to develop their skills and work within the professional theatre industry.

With only 5% of those who audition across the country securing a place, this is a fantastic achievement and one they should all be incredibly proud of.

Congratulations to all four pupils! πŸ‘

Due to the continued hot weather, we’re asking our Cadets and CFAVs to attend the Unit in appropriate, loose-fitting civilian clothing tonight. Sports rig such as shorts and t shirt is ideal.

Please also bring a hat, sunglasses and water bottle.

Refills available throughout the night.

β˜€οΈ HOT WEATHER SAFETY – LOOK AFTER YOURSELF THIS SUMMER β˜€οΈ

With temperatures rising, all cadets and volunteers are reminded to take extra care during both afloat and ashore activities.

Whether you're sailing, paddling, powerboating, marching, training, or taking part in classroom activities, staying safe in the heat is everyone's responsibility.

βœ… Drink plenty of water throughout the day – don't wait until you're thirsty.
βœ… Wear sun protection – apply sunscreen regularly, wear a hat when appropriate, and protect your eyes with sunglasses.
βœ… Dress appropriately – lightweight clothing can help keep you cool during shore-based activities.
βœ… Take advantage of shade whenever possible and avoid prolonged periods in direct sunlight.
βœ… Eat regularly – staying fuelled helps your body cope with warmer conditions.
βœ… Know the signs of heat-related illness:
πŸ”Ή Headache
πŸ”Ή Dizziness
πŸ”Ή Excessive sweating or lack of sweating
πŸ”Ή Nausea
πŸ”Ή Fatigue
πŸ”Ή Confusion

If you or a colleague begin to feel unwell, tell a member of staff immediately.

βš“ Afloat Training

The sun's reflection from the water can increase exposure to UV rays, so remember to:
β€’ Apply waterproof sunscreen.
β€’ Bring a refillable water bottle.
β€’ Wear appropriate headwear when safe to do so.
β€’ Stay hydrated before, during and after activities.

🏠 Ashore Training

Whether on parade, undertaking practical training, or working around the unit:
β€’ Take regular water breaks.
β€’ Use shaded areas where available.
β€’ Avoid overexertion during the hottest part of the day.

At Sea Cadets Sefton, we want everyone to enjoy their training safely and make the most of the fantastic opportunities available throughout the summer.

Stay hydrated. Stay protected. Look after each other. βš“β˜€οΈ
