How does The Walters Method work?

At The Walters Method, we use a structured and supportive approach based on the phased model described by Rothschild.

Exercises are introduced flexibly by the practitioner, depending on the individual needs and emotional state of each client.
One example is The Memory Change exercise — part of The Journey.

In this process, clients are first guided to connect with a safe place and supportive presence, helping them feel grounded and secure. They are then invited to observe a difficult memory from a safe distance, always remaining in control of the process.

Rather than reliving trauma, the exercise focuses on introducing the resources, support and safety that may have been missing at the time allowing the nervous system and emotional response to begin shifting in a new way.

This gentle, felt-sense approach helps people move beyond old patterns, anxiety and emotional freezing building greater confidence, resilience and self-trust.

As we reflect on our final day in Italy, we feel incredibly grateful for everyone who shared this retreat experience with us 🌿

Over the past few days, together we created a safe and supportive space for people to slow down, reconnect with themselves and gently let go of what no longer serves them.

Watching people arrive carrying emotional weight and leave feeling lighter, calmer and more connected has been deeply moving.

At The Walters Method, this work has always been about more than personal healing. When we begin to free ourselves from old trauma, anxiety and unconscious patterns, we naturally bring something different into the world around us, more presence, compassion, understanding and authenticity.

What an incredible retreat we had last week in Italy 🇮🇹

It was so special to bring together both familiar and new faces, creating space not only to dive deeper into The Walters Method practices, but also to truly relax, reset and reconnect.

The energy, conversations and shared experiences made this retreat one to remember and we’re so grateful to everyone who joined us.
