Some of the jobs at Trinity are not so glamorous. This rainwater down pipe must have been leaking for many years. The wall was saturated and consequently, some of the interior woodwork had to be replaced as it was completely rotten. A couple of weeks ago we erected a scaffold and managed to repair the leak. It has rained a few times since and the repair seems to have worked.🤞

This week we finished installing the steel frame that will enable us to create the new first floor at Trinity. This is a major development and now we can complete the conversion of the church to create our community workshop and cafe. As you might imagine, this was a job for specialists and we need to thank all the people involved.

We repaired the drains and used the tree stumps to build a ‘stumppery’ at Trinity which will support the local wild life and encourage biodiversity. The byproduct of all this work is a new and bigger car park. That’s a win win!

Today at Trinity we dug out the tree stumps. As we expected their roots had invaded the main drains and consequently, parts of the system needed replacing with new pipe. Another job almost done. Thanks to Barry Crawshaw for his help and guidance through this job.

Trinity Workshops
Last week we built the concrete foundation necessary for our wood waste extractor system and today we installed it. However, we also had a visit from Clare Chapman, who was the Church of England Closed Churches Case Officer involved when we finally completed on the purchase of the church on the 6th of June last year. Next month she will be speaking at a national conference and will present our story as one of two case studies which demonstrate the successful repurposing of a redundant church. It seems that we are in good company, as the other case study is Saint Michael’s Lodge in North Yorkshire. Their project is complete and very different from ours. Nonetheless, it is both inspirational and encouraging. If you would like to see it, here is the link.
