🩵JUNE IS PTSD AWARENESS MONTH 🩵

PTSD doesn’t always look like what people expect.

Sometimes it’s the smile that hides the struggle.
Sometimes it’s the person who says, “I’m fine.”
Sometimes it’s the colleague who has become quieter.
Sometimes it’s the friend who no longer joins in.
Sometimes it’s the person reliving their worst day while trying to carry on with everyday life.

PTSD can affect anyone.

Emergency service workers. Armed forces personnel. NHS staff. Call handlers. Survivors of trauma. Men. Women. Children.

This month, let’s do more than raise awareness.

✅ Listen without judgement.
✅ Learn the signs.
✅ Check in on those around you.
✅ Encourage people to seek support.
✅ Remind others that they are not alone.

Hope is real.
Conversations save lives.

Together, let’s turn awareness into action.

🩵 Because every story matters.
🩵 Every struggle matters.
🩵 Everyone matters.

🐾💚 This morning our incredible Community Support Dog Ness and handler Danny attended the Armed Forces Community HQ CIC breakfast morning in Wigan. 🇬🇧☕
As part of our Community Support Dog Programme, Ness will now be attending every Friday morning to provide comfort, companionship and emotional support to the veterans who attend. 🫶🐶
For many veterans, simply having someone to talk to, a calm environment, and the unconditional support of a therapy dog can make a real difference to mental health and wellbeing. 💙
We are proud to support those who have served our country and help create safe spaces where veterans can connect, talk openly, reduce isolation and improve emotional wellbeing. 🪖🤝
Thank you to everyone who welcomed us this morning, we’re already looking forward to next Friday! 🙏

Not our work but it hits the mark

It’s over. Your clearance chit is all signed off. You’ve received your last train warrant, they’ve taken your ID card off you at the guard room, and you walk out through the gate for the last time, it’s Endex.

It doesn’t matter how many years you served in the military, it will always have a lasting effect on the way you live for the rest of your life. Marine, soldier, sailor or airman, whichever you may be, there are some qualities and experiences that most, if not all veterans, share.

There are 3 types of people, Civilian, Military and Veteran. Once you join the military, you can never go back to being a civilian again.

When you’ve left the military, you might think you are doing a great job trying to blend into your civilian surroundings, but the signs are there that you once served your country, sometimes without you even realising it. What you will realise is you’ll never be normal again. 🙏
